Because previously every time that thread was re-opened, a certain Leicester fan would post, and the rumour would be debunked straight after.

5 minutes later that Leicester fan posted in the thread.

Another 5 mins later and Sky has now said this rumour is false.

Arsenal were a club I always wanted to succeed.  They always played a good brand of football and Wenger came across as a decent guy trying to do the right thing by the club.

 

Last year though I lost all respect for them.  Especially in our game with them at the Emirates.  I've never seen a set of players moan and winge about everything so much in any game I've seen and the sense of entitlement their supporters showed was truly disgraceful.  Wenger this summer has tried to unsettle Vardy and Mahrez when previously he's said he doesn't play those kind of games.

 

I don't think there's a club that I would

want us to beat more than Arsenal this season.

There is little benefit for a player who has only had a couple of top quality seasons to sulk. If he sulks and doesn't play well, then no one will want him. They will think it was a fluke. He needs to shine again so that if he does want to move teams will still want him.

Riyad Mahrez has accepted he will not be allowed to leave Leicester this month after talks between his representatives and the Premier League champions’ director of football on Wednesday.

Last season’s PFA Player of the Year expressed his desire to move last month afterturning down a new contract worth around £80,000 a week. Yet Leicester’s owners, having sold N’Golo Kanté to Chelsea and persuaded Jamie Vardy to reject a transfer to Arsenal, were adamant Mahrez would not be allowed to depart despite interest from several clubs in the Premier League and overseas.

The director of football, Jon Rudkin, met the Algerian international’s agent on Wednesday to underline that point, with Leicester not willing to entertain any bids for Mahrez so close to the start of the season with little time left to find a replacement.

Negotiations over a new contract will continue, however, with any agreement potentially resting on whether the 25-year-old would be allowed to leave if a suitable bid is received in future.

Reports in France on Wednesday claimed that Arsenal offered £35m for a player purchased from Le Havre in 2014 for £375,000, although that was denied by both clubs. Mahrez has also been linked with Chelsea and Barcelona in the past but Leicester have previously indicated it would take a bid well in excess of £50m to persuade them to sell.

Leicester have submitted a €27m (£23.2m) bid for the Santos forward Gabriel Barbosa – known as Gabigol– who is playing for Brazil at the Rio Olympics. The 19-year-old’s future is likely to be decided after the Games.

Frankly, if he wants to **** off then lets get a replacement in and sell him on deadline day.

Normally I'd agree but we can afford a replacement without selling him and if he's with us he's not with one of our competitors, now if it was Barcelona after him.........

Cant believe his agent fell for the ' little time to find a replacement' line. We've been inquiring left right and center about players....

We can really rule put Man Utd and Man City out of the equation - spent mass amounts already.

 

Can't see Mahrez fitting in with Conte's playing methods he usually adopts.

 

Would be absolutely sickening seeing him in an Arsenal shirt - a club that struggles to jump over high barriers for success and fail to adapt to change.

Maybe this shows we have been unable to secure any of them?

 

still think this is all about a release clause in his new contract that suits both sides. We have the whip hand but we need a happy player and to be fair to him and his agent, we only paid a small amount for him. 

 

I think we should agree a trigger clause of 40m for barca/real/PSG (based on 80k/week) and 55m for any English CL clubs. (Based on 100k/week). If he went for 40m then he could expect a s/o fee of around 10m. We could agree a loyalty bonus of 5m if he goes to an English club.  That should be motivation enough for him to be happy and perform to his best capabilities.  I'm sure rudders and his agent can come up with something that works for everyone.
