SportsNut1908 Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 I must live in the worst place in England for this. Every dumbass Gooner, Chelsea, West Ham or Spurs fan cracks the same line off. My wife can even repeat the sentence 'since 1989, first game at Filbert St was a 2-0 win over Port Vale with about 10,000 other glory hunters'. Not that annoying though when I think what last year was like
fuchsntf Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 I welcome all new supporters, even glory hunters... FFS, its not long ago, if you told people you were a Leicester fan, their response was inevitably 'who'..!! The fact our last 2 seasons, have opened up our own ' little dump', To be a Football and cultural tourists trap, plus Italians, Aussies, Amis, and even Asians, are now searching hard to find long lost aunts n uncles, that come from Leicester they are related to. Glory hunters , prawn sandwich brigade, are all welcome... If they are true fans, they can help us search for our/cheesemans lost dino, and reintroduction of the much missed Balti-pies. Then if they feel the true spirit of King Richard, rocking with Kasbian and Showwaddywaddy, they can enter that heaven of the only true l foxes den, celebrating the Vardy Party. WOE betide if they dare go astry..King Dick sends in his man at arms Big Was.
Guest Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 Does it matter? It's who'll be supporting us in the championship in 10 years time that matters.
Finnegan Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 I just love the irony that it's fans of the big clubs doing it. If, I dunno, a Boston fan was giving out some stick to Leicester fans they thought had been a bit invisible til last year you'd think, probably fair. But United, Arsenal, Chelsea fans with no sense of irony. I especially liked it when fans started coming to the King Power and honestly singing Where Were You When You Were Shit when we'd sold out in the same fixture the year before whilst bottom of the league and doomed. Amazing.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 I quite like it, don't think I'd have said even a few years ago I'd get accused of being branded a glory supporter for supporting us
ARTY_FOX Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 Only been accused of being a glory supporter once. I just got a huge grin on my face and told them they'd made my day. I never thought I'd ever be accused of glory hunting as a leicester fan. Especially the shit I got up until about 3 years ago...
lgfualol Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 It's been implied when I have made comments on forums that I am a glory supporter. Funny when the person saying it has a username like ChadUSATrump4prezGooner.

CollinsLCFC Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 When we have facebook groups Like 100%LCFC which is fully of newbie supporters, it makes me chuckle.
rn9013 Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 I have to say...living in Leeds things have changed a bit when the inevitable 'so who do you support' question comes up. I was born and bred in Leicester, and followed my Dad into being a city fan listening to every game I couldn't attend on the radio without fail, I was even one of the League One STH's. It was only when I moved up this way for work that I had to settle for a membership and attend the games I can. Yet....when the question comes up, I now respond with 'Leicester' knowing that the glory hunter tag won't be far behind in the conversation. Although every supporter I have come across of a small-medium sized club has had nothing but congratulations, so all in all I really don't mind!
Foxhateram Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 I have been finding this too, I go out somewhere and random people come up to me and say something like "Leicester eh! Always? Or glory?" I have had this so many times recently. When I reply with since I was born in the Leicester Royal infirmary they soon shut up. It has become a bit of an annoyance really. My wife says it is like we are celebrities that people just feel the need to talk to, she has even asked me to stop wearing it because of how often it happens. At first it was nice to boast a little and be proud to be a foxes fan, now it is just getting annoying.

Nalis Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 I love it too as we havent had much to be smug about, particuarly between 2005-2013 (except league 1) . Had the following conversation so many times in the past 6 months: 'Who do you support?' 'Leicester' 'Really?? Since when?' '1997' 'B0llocks' 'Nah its true' '**** off' 'Nah its true' '**** off!' 'Nah its true' 'Really???? ' 'Yep' 'Really????' '....Yep' '....Congratulations mate!' 'Cheers pal!!!!!!'
Kitchandro Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 Got it from one of our own on Sunday It's just banter innit, I know I'm not a glory supporter so I'm not really bothered if people suggest I am, even seriously. What would annoy me is if people starting to suggest we had no fans as a club in general before last year. We've always been well supported and I'm not letting it go if we're accused of filling our ground and selling out places because we've won the league.

Bellend Sebastian Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 I tell everyone I've become a Leicester fan so recently that I don't even know about the title win
Dan Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 I'm not too bothered if people say it to me. I know the truth and that's what matters.
ajthefox Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 I think it's because when you're shit no-one takes any notice. I've always worn our kits to play in, but it's not until this season that people even clock onto what I'm wearing. Everyone notices now though.
UPinCarolina Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 3 hours ago, AKCJ said: Why would it bother you if you're not though? If you've supported us since forever then you'll know that all you need say is something like "I saw us lose 1-0 to Plymouth at home when Ian Holloway was our manager". As you can see from my "join on" date - I'm a little prickly. I deserve to feel somewhat sheepish, as I've stated in threads from the past. Did I start supporting Leicester for glory? No - but we found it quickly and now I feel a little odd. It was brilliant to meet LCFC fans from around the globe in Los Angeles this summer, and I felt right at home - but it's a strange place to find yourself.
Detroit Blues Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 It certainly does make it awkward since i've only been watching Leicester for 2 years. Like somehow if we continued to suck, I would have a lot more street cred. But Leicester just had to go and win the league and make me look like a glory hunter
FoxCal Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 Towards the end of the season I was finding myself at a pub in High Wycombe more and more to watch Tottenham's games and because I was so close to London there were often a fair number of their fans in there when they were on. The night they played Stoke off the park there was a pretty loud Spurs fan about. When he found out I was backing Stoke and questioned me as to why he wouldn't take 'I'm a Leicester fan' as a reason, brushing it off as 'no you're not, not really'. I had to produce my season ticket for him to be convinced. I don't think it really matters - why should it? I don't think any of us need to be vindicated by strangers. The only bit that bothers me is the suggestion that we're obviously so small that it's unthinkable that we actually have any fans outside of the city, which is ludicrous.
Staffs Fox Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 Got called a glory supporter last week on holiday! I got into a conversation about football as you do, mentioned I was a City fan and his first reponse was 'oh yeah, since when? Six months ago?'. 8 years ago when I saw us at Sixfields I could never have believed I'd ever be called a glory hunter!
GaelicFox Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 Classic lines I hear is "so who is your real team then, the team you supported before Leicester were OK "

lcfcdamo Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 Really think we should go has attacking has we possibly can for this game so defo have to start with gray with mussa and vardy and Mahrez think if we do start with them we will have to much for them but got a feeling Albrighton will be in would rather use him against the better teams though
