jon1bc Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 King is a 2nd tier midfielder and had no place today. He looked slow and clueless when going forward Armatey didn't look comfortable on the ball. Gray appears to have an attitude problem and his touch and passing was dire. Not convinced by Hernandez nor playing Vardy and Musa together. On the plus side we're still in the premier league

We shouldve signed Gueye clearly Walsh wanted to. Perhaps CR wanted to play a slightly different way and vetoed it - as I remeber he wasnt all too keen on bringing in Kante originally. Im also not too sure what kind of player Amartey is - still seems a little nervous and unwilling to commit and take risks in moving forward. Its clear that drinks thrives next to someone doing the nitty gritty whether Mendy is that player i'm yet to see. Actually im pretty sure he isnt so unless we're planning on going 3 across midfield I'm unsure as to what the management are trying do in this area. Good post...Agree. I fear that if Claudio tries to change us too much, we lose what was good about us last season. Gueye would have been a perfect replacement for Kante. Amartey doesn't seem a natural footballer to me. Nervous, non commital, lacking quality.
Grewks Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 King is not an 'attacking midfielder', we experimented with that in the championship.
Dan Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I feel sorry in a way for any midfielder who plays for us from now because they will always, without fail be compared to Kante, and those are unfillable boots.

I once called to a property to do a job, the occupier being Lillian Nalis who'd just started the season for us. I gushed and told him he'll be our next Muzzy. he pretty much dismissed it saying Muzzy is too good. This is football.

But then you have to look at recruitment (Ranieri). If it's impossible to find a replacement (Which it wasmnt btw, Claudio dismissed Walshy's suggestion of Gueye), then you have to adapt and use different types of midfielders. Makelele was the greatest at what he did, yet his ex clubs still won titles without him. Lets say Kante saves you conceding 20 goals a season, well then you either replace him with a guy who does the same, or a guy who can score/assist those goals to balance it out. Just look at chelsea since the loss of Lampard, thats 20 goals a season, preet suce a combination of fabregas and Kante could assist and prevent that number.
jmono84 Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Really want King to do well but he ain't a starter... He is slow and you can tell he's struggling to keep up with pace when he makes those desperate lunging tackles no where near the player... He just isn't mobile enough unfortunately... I get mendy's bird gave birth but I feel amarty would have had more an impact than King if he started the game... After their second goal the midfield was completely bypassed and it became a horror show of a footy match... Defo the wake up call the players, staff and manager needed!!

But how do you know he dismissed Gueye?

yorkie1999 Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 I think fans look at king, imagine him to be a great player for us and then believe what they've imagined. If he's that good, why has nobody ever bought him.
splinterdream Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 4 hours ago, HankMarvin said: You squirted? hahaha not quite, but I did tell him he's brilliant despite the fact I had reservations. He was quite humble and seemed more interested in the house he was having built abroad.

Mywifehitmuzzybyaccident Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 What's the story with Matty James?
J.Lisemore Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Quite clear to see he isn't good enough to start games for us. He has obviously been brilliant for us through the leagues and seems a top bloke, just not sure he offers us enough.
Carl the Llama Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Don't care how good he is, I'd give him a lifetime contract just cause he seems like a nice guy to have around the training ground.

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 This thread is proper Foxestalk. Looks like we've found the new scapegoat.

I'll never forget his performance that game. Ronaldinho was like "who is this guy?" Nails basically bossed the other 21 players on the pitch. On his day, he was beyond worldclass.
Babylon Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 He's trash... shouldn't be starting a game unless we're resting others.

foxinsocks Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 The guy sitting behind me at the kp just mutters "put kingy on". I think many admire his service to the club but this makes them lose objectivity. ..... he is a safe pair of hands but we need better starters in midfield. Mendy or amarty have the oppotunity to step up... the sucess of eirher will define our season
Buzzell Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 He's not good enough. The club has progressed so much so we need better options in midfield. He's a decent option off the bench but that's about it. It's great he's done so much for the club but this is the time to move forward.

I don't honestly remember, he can't have been with us long because he was renting an average house in Mountsorrel at the time. I'm not sure how long he'd been with us before he scored that worldy against Leeds either. I was watching that in a bar in Zante surrounded by Leeds fans and got sooo drunk. Anyhow, I didn't recognise him at first (one customers face blends in with another), I was doing a landlord gas safety check and he was hanging over my shoulder, I sarcastically asked him if he shared an interest in boilers, the sarcasm went over his head, he said he was having a house built somewhere in the med, think it was Monaco, i then stupidly asked him what he did for a living and he said he was a footballer (in the style of Ginola), I then (like an idiot) asked him who he played for, I was a season ticket holder and had been for years. The same stupidness happened when I got a bollocking from Sue Pollard for being late to a morning appt. It was at this point I turned into a teenage girl with a crush and told him how great he was going to be. He said something about Muzzy being a fantastic player, i don't remember really. He did become very average though didn't he or is my memory playing tricks?
The Railway Man Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 He's a club legend but it's like playing with ten men at this level sometimes with him in the team, just simply not good enough, he can't even get into Wales' team so he shouldn't be being considered for the English champions.
