i thought mahrez was fantastic second half. was like the old leicester were back.

mendy was pretty rubbish, we will need 12 mendys alone to cover the same ground as ngolo.

two blatant pens but performance rather than the result the main pleasing thing to focus on.

Yeah, can't understand the overall criticism Mahrez has received. In the second half he was knocking it around beautifully- nutmegging, flicking, getting into great positions with weaving runs. He will run into dead ends at times but compared to last week he was streets ahead.

Are you trolling or actually just a superior being?

He was actually making very valid and accurate points, warranted  criticisms of some of our neanderthal and negative fan base and posters on here!

Mendy was not rubbish......he did some good things and actually had started the second half all be it 5 minutes really well.

He struggled at times with the pace of the game but you seem to forget it took Kante a few games to find his feet.

I saw enough signs to believe Mendy will be good when he finds his feet....

Most lovable guy and also most criticizable. Go figure.

Mahrez has 2-3 players on him permanently with zero support from anybody. No one, not even Messi can play 90mins of football like that. Simpson won't come forward, the other midfielders  are too far from him, therefore the opposition players can just concentrate on Mahrez who can't play simple give and goes. He has to take the responsibility of dribbling past several players to create anything. The fact that he did that to some very good Arsenal players, just shows how good he is. I still believe an extra player in midfield is the answer.

3-4-3 is the answer.

                         Kasper

        Hernandez - Morgan - Huth

Albrighton - Drinky - Mendy - Fuchs

          Mahrez - Vardy - Musa

I seem to recall Kante being played at LM in one of the early cup games before finally sticking in the middle. Mendy will be good. I feel it in ma bones.

I have a sligthly different view. I would play 433

Kasper

Simpson -  Morgan - Huth - Fuchs

    Amartey - Drinky - Albrighton

    Mahrez - Vardy -  Musa

Seems a little strange to have Albrighton in midfield, but i actually think he's playing well in defence, going forward is his weakness. Here he can defend and also support Musa if needed. Amartey on the right to support both Simpson in defence and Mahrez when we attack. Both have lots of energy and should find going up and down the pitch no problem. This frees up our attack a little and also gives Mahrez and Musa greater support. No okazaki is the biggest problem as he's been right up there as one of our best players recently.

@sm1 If we want Mahrez to stop being marked by 2-3 players, we need Albrighton to help him on the right. On the left, sure, he usually just cuts back and puts in an inswinger, sometimes a nice through ball for Vardy or Okazaki to run onto. But on the right, his link up play is so good, and if needed he'll get to the byline, put in a cross, maybe win a corner.

If we want to play 4-3-3, we need a RB who is able to go forward and overlap, or else the extra defensive support from Amartey is pretty pointless, and offensively maybe he'll help, but to change it up and sometimes have a full-back overlapping can cause more problems.

Yeah that's what i'm thinking. With Amartey having played at RB and Albrighton at LWB, they could possibly inter change with Simpson and Fuchs, at times within the game, encouraging them to go forward. I feel that even if we have somebody near Mahrez, he can play a simple pass. At the moment when he gets the ball there's never any City players near him, so he's forced to do everything himself. We need to give him more options. Either that or we play 442 but with Albrighton/Musa interchanging with Mahrez from left to right wing at different times in the game, confusing the opppostion.

A much improved performance as expected. I thought Okazaki set the tone for everyone with his tempo from the start. He's clearly worked hard during the summer and grown in confidence.he just needs to stay calm at vital times. Our inter play has definitely improved from last season and is clearly something we've been working on. Mahrez was also much better now that his contract is sorted. I also can't believe he didn't change wings as all the space was on the Arsenals right side. If only to screw up the Arsenal plan to put two on Mahrez. Mussa comes on and caused havoc immediately on the left. Albrighton behind Mahrez is a good call as it would allow them to interchange and make life difficult for any full back. While Schlupp would provide strength, cover, pace and width on the left.

What we're lacking is that quality offensive midfielder who is comfortable with the Ball, can beat a man and can also see a pass. ( I can't understand why this wasn't addressed during the window as it give us another option of playing through the middle instead of going long to Vardy all the time.

Defensively Teams are still getting through us in midfield too easily. Which is why we need to tuck in  a little when we don't have the ball. I think Amartey can be a great player for us but first has to get his chance.

Sadly the silly pre season prevented us from trying out different players and permutations.

Ohhhhh I like that. Interesting. Okazaki can come on later for whoever is hurting for pace.

Made his home debut and he rubbish:blink:

granted he wasn't exactly influential,

but give the lad a chance

I've watched all his games since Celtic, he's great at getting to where the ball was rather than where the frickibg thing is.

In comparison, Kante got to where the ball was going.

I know he's not the same player but we need another Kante-type to continue our philosophy long-term imo.

I remember ngolo coming on against Spurs. Maybe it was him being shoved out on the left but that was exactly what I remember about his sub appearances - arriving too late. takes a bit of time to adjust from the continent to England for some. Gokhan never managed it. NG got to grips within a month or so. Papy will, take longer due to his injury so we need to hope the cover we have is up to the job or we buy someone else. We are short there anyway. (Not just in stature!)

Has there been any announcement on Mendy? do we know how serious his injury is?

Conveniently gone down injured so he can have a few weeks off back in France with his missus and bairn.

So many games to adjust, 3 friendlies and half a Premier League game!

New country, environment, language, culture, team mates  and style/pace of league.

In typical Foxes Talk fashion he's being written off already. Completely unfair and premature criticism imo.

Give the lad time!

Gerbold page 12 top top posts way above the level of most on here.  University professor I think?

Totally, and not condescending like some posters who also do lengthy posts!

If we're guessing jobs I would also lean towards academia!

I watched the game again yesterday, and kept an eye on Mendy.

When one of our players is tackling or running with the opposition, he plays in space between players to cut out passes, forcing the opposition to play sideways or backwards. When an opposition player runs in to the space or towards a 'good position', he tracks the player, forcing the opposition to pass into a less advantageous position, backwards or sideways. What that means is, he doesn't see much of the ball, and when he does, he does a simple pass to get the play moving. This is smart play, and I think people misconstrued this as him being a passenger.
