Tuna Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 What the fcuck was Musa doing on the rebound to Mahrez's shot? Why doesn't he shoot!

Corky Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 Heaps better than last week, the intensity and desire was back from last season. We are still adapting to being without Kante and I think we coped quite well. Should've had at least one penalty too. Draw was just about fair, performance vastly improved and things are ok again. Need to win next week now.

Mendy seems to be like King (a passenger) and is not someone to demand the ball and seems to shy away from things. I think we need a new midfielder. Vardy looks tired to me. I don't get why ranieri keeps playing him for 90 mins, he needs a rest. Why not take him off or start him on the bench. Needs a rest? He had a rest after the euros and missed most of pre season. If he needs a rest already, he better get down the gym.

gurru991 Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 i think we should try Okazaki in midfield, he is the energy player we need to replace Kante
CosbehFox Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 Some incredibly harsh opinions on a lad playing his first competitive game in England. To add, a father for the first time too.

suffolk fox Posted 21 August 2016 Posted 21 August 2016 100% improvement on the Hull fiasco. Thought all of the defence played very well especially Simpson, why he is berated by some on here I don't know. Vardy not himself again and was blowing out of his arse after 70 minutes fitness levels? Should have had a stonewall penalty at the end but interestingly enough Clattenburg was on a q and a session at a fans forum the other week when asked his worst decision in football he mentioned the Vardy penalty against Utd? He obviously evened things up. we still need a ball winning midfielder in midfield. I hope we strenghen before the window shuts.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 21 August 2016 Posted 21 August 2016 I was worried after the first 25 mins, looked like we couldn't get the ball off them and Mendy didn't seem to touch the ball but we grew into the game and it was a pretty enjoyable 0-0. Could've been 2 pens easily but it'd be suspicious if Clattenburg gave us a pen in every game so I'll let him off. He owes us one though I'm thrilled with how much we improved from last week though, we're only going to get better and 3 points against the Swans next week and everything will be rosy. Albrighton and Okazaki definitely add balance and sheer hard work to the side, they both never stopped grafting.
Rasmic123 Posted 21 August 2016 Posted 21 August 2016 Theres some ****in retards on here, we played well today and were unlucky today. Anybody criticising the way we played today can **** off, we played really well second half against a very good arsenal team and if clattenburh had some backbone, we would have won
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 21 August 2016 Posted 21 August 2016 Just got home from work and watched highlights. Musa foul was definately a peno drinky one in first half not a peno coquelin should of been sent off though overall 0-0 probably fair result it has to be said why didn't Musa shoot from Mahrez rebound?
Donut Posted 21 August 2016 Posted 21 August 2016 As 0-0s go, i thought that was a good game, and a good performance by Leicester. I was concerned going into the game that up against the three central midfielders of Arsenal, we would be overrun in that department again deciding on a central two. And in the first half, there were times where we did look light in that area. Mendy was a little bit of a passenger again but was growing into the game more and more until the unfortunate injury, i hope it isnt too serious but it looked like a nasty twist. Hopefully not too bad. Arsenal did have the lions share of possession which is to be expected, but they werent threatening in front of goal until the late additions of Ozil and Wilshere and that was largely down to a strong tactical shape where we decided to hold position and let them have the ball in certain areas, we were disciplined in moving away from our natural inclination to press the ball and instead retain our shape and we were mostly comfortable. Having Huth back gave the performance a calmness and he played very well and improved Morgan 100% on last weeks performance. We grew into the game more and Drinkwater was superb in the 2nd half. We pushed for a winner late as the game was opening up too. The Musa challenge was a stonewaller. As was the 2nd yellow card for Coquelin who despite being excellent on the night should have walked. The first penalty, having seen 15 replays i think it wasnt a penalty, how CLattenburg worked that out in real time speed though i have no idea. Moving forward, id still like to see 3 in the middle of the park and Musa wide left. I think its our strongest set up to use to give us a balance of solidarity and attacking force. It would mean finding a position for Okazaki who is one of the most underrated players we have, possibly a 4-2-3-1 could suit him in a defensive forward role. Many positives and if we maintain that performance, we can get the first win next week vs Swansea
justfoxes Posted 21 August 2016 Posted 21 August 2016 At least the Arseholenal can't say they did the double against us this season and Mahrez made them look fools at times ! Agree with some disagree with a lot on this thread but thought we played well today, yes Vardy didn't look pin perfect as last season we don't have Kante but that's another story ! we looked pretty well we matched the Wengerboys well they had more shots so what we held them to a 0-0 last year they beat us twice but not this year, that's an improvement in my books we are the champions everyone will be looking to shoot us down but we will fight back as we always do !! next Swansea next first 3 points of the season ONWARDS AND FOOKING UPWARDS AND IN KING CLAUDIO WE FOOKING TRUST !!
Dawko Posted 21 August 2016 Posted 21 August 2016 Mendy, I thought, was very disappointing, hardly touched the ball, chasing it but never getting there in time. Looks overweight to me. Team always poorer without Albrighton in it. Musa great but scared to shoot. Simpson made vital interceptions. Drinkwater was impressive.

biggs Posted 21 August 2016 Posted 21 August 2016 Drinkwater once again controlled the midfield. Man of the match Clattenberg cheated us of 3 points 1 pt from Arsenal we didn't get last year Liverpool lost to Burnkey.....the unexpected happens to other teams too Ranieri ironing out the rough bits and will have us firing on all cylinders very soon. I feel a few players have started this season a little below the fitness levels of last year....not sure why but in a week or two this won't be a factor. Looking forward to next week's match

reynard Posted 21 August 2016 Posted 21 August 2016 I thought we were largely ineffective in the first half. We didn't/weren't able to get the ball to Mharez and created very little. In fact I thought Arsenal dominated the first half without creating that killer pass and chance. We seemed to be defending on the edge of our own penalty area. The difference between Mendy and Kante was in some ways down to speed of thought but also the fact that Kante seemed able to make his interceptions further up the pitch thus releasing our attacks further away from our own penalty area. Our first half tempo seemed slow and lackluster. In contrast we started the second half with more tempo and on the front foot and despite Arsenal passing it around nicely I thought we were the better side by the end. Drinkwater became more positively involved and Vardy was not so isolated, especially once Ulloa came on. Mahrez took around an hour to become fully involved but showed some good touches eventually. So fairly happy with a point. We should have had a penalty and they should have been down to 10 men. Also feel we were greatly helped by Wenger's weird team selection. If the three subs who came on had started I'm not sure we would have not lost. Musa has pace but looks to me like he might be a bit frustrating at times, quite why he didn't shoot at the end is a mystery. We are short in midfield. In my opinion we need someone who can dominate the area not just purely physically but also creatively. If we lose Drinkwater we have no central midfielder with anything different to break sides down. So an improvement but I think we have a way to go to get anywhere near the top 6. Need to win next week against Swansea to get our season started or we will be in danger of being at the wrong end of the table trying to catch up with some tricky away matches coming.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 21 August 2016 Posted 21 August 2016 I thought Mahrez did better defensively than Albrighton. Maybe trying a little too hard to make things work going forward, but he is looking good. Vardy seems out of sorts, but you get the impression Claudio will try anything except subbing him off. Musa will cause problems for anyone, shame we don't have two of him - one through the middle and one wide. Not sure which is his best position. Not sure who should play with Drinkwater either? Mendy didn't set the game alight, but I would have liked to see him complete 90mins. King looked better than last week when he came on. Defence was altogether more sound with Huth back - the obvious benefit of consistency. Overall, much improved on last week but we are obviously still working on some things. I think we as fans perhaps underestimate how much a settled side and system helps - we got into a rhythm last season (carrying on from the previous year) where everyone knew their position and role. It will take time for players to adapt to that, even if they are very good - Hernandez, Mendy and Musa seem at least the equal of our first team but need some time to know where they should be. It seemed particularly obvious with Mendy on Saturday when he was taking up positions that were definitely not where Kanté would have been last year. Not necessarily a bad thing, but everyone needs to build up an understanding. We are getting there.

We were better than last week but there were still elements of the game which show we still need improvement. Last week, Arsenal's back four were cut to ribbons by Liverpool, yes they included a fresh player today but we rarely carved out meaningful chances. The main concern from the game was how easily Arsenal got behind our back four, but their lack of centre forward helped us. Yes it was an improvement but it's a little early to be getting carried away with people suggesting that the old Leicester are back. It's evident we need to address a few problems.
RowlattsFox Posted 21 August 2016 Posted 21 August 2016 Much better, more organised with Huth in the side and the work rate was back. Mendy did ok but he's not Kante so isn't going to be noticed as much. Lack of creativity and no goal threat if Vardy/mahrez don't score is a worry.
