The one thing I was just thinking...I think all of us were dreading deadline day coming this year, especially after Kante left. And even though this is going to be agonizing. It could have been a whole lot worse. We have done some good business and legitimately signed everyone we could have been worried about losing. There's no way this wasn't a good window for us either way.

He liked the offer and confided that our chairman made a promise of not cutting his legs on a move after years of loyalty, so everyone should get to an agreement soon. That´s what he said. Sporting said there was no offer. Obviously this doesn´t seem legit. There is an offer but we just don´t want to let him go after losing Joao Mario and Slimani already. If the deal was done, our manager could never said what he said the day before Adrien´s interview. Lying about an offer is a deeply odd thing for a club to do, there was no reason to do so. Might be a red herring, but it does clearly look to be a lie and it is unexplained. It doesn't make anyone look any better, might be a reason behind it, but I can't for the life of me think of what that reason might be.

Makes total sense when they still have a day remaining......we're prob not chasing any other players at this point so they have the bargaining power at this moment....who let's up first if either side does will be the key to a done deal or no deal
MrLuke Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 I hate this, would be so pis5ed if this happened to one of our players. But, I can understand why we're going in late, it's almost like an eBay auction, get your bid in just before end time in order to prevent a bidding war and keep the price down. Unfortunately in this day and age, social media ruins it all. Whether it's a player making quotes to local press, wannabe twitter stars who want to ramp up their follow count or journalists click-baiting their way around the internet, the magic for me has gone, the whole system is tainted. Give me the gossip column on BBC Teletext any day of the week.

The only ones that lied were the player's agents, when they (he?) told Adrien that the deal was done.

I read (and the person I was quoting on this forum had also said) that Sporting claimed there has been no offer from Leicester, that is clearly not true.
st albans fox Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Not good that Bastian has refused to go. Unless they get in a replacement, I really don't think they will sanction the deal. Hopefully they have more than just him in the queue.

Sporting said there was no offer - to make it seem like Adrien has been influenced by his agents and we are not cutting his legs. That away he can still redeem himself and play for Sporting as usual. Obviously this is good for us, not so much for him, who is keen on a transfer. He gotta understand the club's needs tho.

Bluearmyfox28 Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 We must still be confident something can be reached here surely, as we haven't heard of us making a move for anyone else?
z-layrex Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Portuguese news still saying we offered around 30 monopoly and Sporting want 40.
KingKante Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Amartey, drink water and Mendy will keep this chap out of the team, expensive back up!
Long Eaton Fox Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 If Sporting say we have made no offer then maybe we actually are not interested in him and its another game we're playing for N'zonzi
The Doctor Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 If we're offering monopoly money that might be the hold-up...
Walshie is God Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 The stiffy I had about this last night has somewhat drooped

Well if that's all it'll take I think we can probably take up a collection. I'm pretty sure I have at least that in monopoly currency somewhere...Doubt I can get to Leicester or Lisbon by tomorrow though.
