Albrighton signs new four year deal

Great news for both the club and Albrighton. I do tend to think he could be even more effective on the right wing without having to cut inside to get the crosses in, but at the same time Mahrez is already on the right wing, and Marc's partnership with Fuchs is very good. An option to think about though, I'm sure Claudio did it sometimes last season.

Me thinks this was scheduled in for another day... most likely tomorrow. I've been there before when i've pressed a day ahead and not double checked! lol

Great news. He has done really well for us,we have other wide players but he has contributed a lot for us and was fantastic last season

clearly intended for tomorrow to soften the blow of the Sporting deals not happening....

Good news, not one of my favourite players tbh, however we look a hell of a lot better when he's in the team

Absolutely - underrated and and a massive contributor..... He starts on the wing before Musa for me who should be Vardy's understudy. Until we can be effective in other formations it's round pegs in round holes and Albrighton is excellent at what he does and his link up and one touch football seems to go unnoticed by many of our football expert fans - I hope he's on 50k a week.

Brilliant, he's one of my favourites.

He's another player, like Vardy and Drinkwater, who've had failure in their career.  I saw discussion on a Swansea forum a few months ago and they were looking at the comparison between the England and Wales national sides.  You can look through the Wales squad and a lot of the players have been released from bigger clubs, or had to drop down a few divisions to then work their way back up.  They theorised that that was what the England squad lacked, a number of players who've had to show some determination to get to the top.  The sort of determination that helps build team spirit and gets you through when the chips are down.

Point being that Albrighton is another of those - he was in and out of the side at Villa, had loan spells at Championship teams before being released a couple of summers ago.  Had to play second fiddle under Nige for a long spell, but now you can see how much he enjoys playing and being a part of this team and squad.  I think it couldn't hurt to have someone like him in and around the England squad.

Good. I was unsure last season, thinking I wish we had a more attacking winger, but his defensive contributions and work rate are fantastic. Consistently my first team choice.

Very happy about that.

I feel we still won't see the best of him while he's playing on the left though.

Well next season, there is a good chance he'll be playing on the right... unless Claudio has some weird obsession with inverted wingers.

Even this season, with AFCON and if Mahrez needs rests before/after CL games/international duty. As much as I'd love him to be in the England team, it's somewhat beneficial to us that he isn't when all our other wingers are.

From all accounts a great teammate and person, and he works his socks off every time he is on the pitch. To me, he is one of the most underrated players we have (along with Shinji). Great to see this.

Good man - thumbs up !!!

did a great turn... Shame such a nice guy and good player only makes two pages on the day of the announcement...  Much like his contribution on field, he has flown under the radar somewhat...

edit - a thread about Pukka pies does nearly as well !!!

He is a bit like Simpson for me. I am always thinking we can upgrade on him but he, like Simpson continues to prove me wrong. We really missed him starting against Hull and we always seem to play so much better as a team with him in the starting line-up. Well deserved new contract and totally fits our team ethos of hard work and team spirit. Even as I write this I am thinking... but Gray and Kaputska will be ahead of him soon and we still need to upgrade on Simpson...  Keep proving me wrong guys!!!
