Allardyce left by mutual consent to avoid being sacked? - official

What an idiot. He had to go given the FA's stance on third-party ownership of players.

I'm sad for him in a way as I think he deserved a shot at the job on footballing grounds.

But do we really want someone so idiotic in charge of the national team? He earned £3m per year not including any bonuses he might have got. The third-party ownership crap is just pure greed. There was no need at all.

Probably one of the few decisions/choices he'll greatly regret in a few years' time.

He deserved the opportunity to build something longer-lasting, but his ego and opportunistic nature got in the way.

Shame on you, Big Sam.

Absolute twat.

Not many people would risk a guaranteed £3 million a year for a spurious  £400k but Fat Sam did.

He may never have been charged for it but he's got previous when it comes to treading a fine line between unethical and down right corrupt. I can't believe his utter stupidity.

Job of his dreams? Can't have meant that much to you, you money-grabbing twat.

All that said, I absolutely detest this form of 'journalism' - disgusting. So the Telegraph sell a few more papers and gain a few more hits while English football picks up the pieces again.

The Fat, useless knob end.

Wonder what the pay off will be in this obscene world of football? 10 mill?

Might not be anything at all if it's mutual consent.

Plus I'm not sure how big a pay off you're entitled when you **** it up an hour and a half into a new job lol

Resigning actually should mean he avoids a payoff from the FA for contract severance

Absolute joke though, this needs to be seen as an end to the era of us being shit. Gut the system, whatever you have to do, get the corrupt, inept lot out

A big fat nothing I would hope.

If anyone was going to get themselves into trouble with their big mouth it was him!

Mind you the contenders for the job include Pardew and Hoddle - both not exactly PR savvy.

Probably end up being Southgate/Bruce.

Am I the only one who is a little bit disgusted and uncomfortable with this so called 'journalism'?

Wrecking a man's career? I'm sure they are all high fiving in the press room as we speak. I hope they are pleased with themselves for ruining the man. Good job.

Secret recordings, it's essentially entrapment. He's not committed any criminal offences.

He's been stupid and naive, yes, but the whole thing doesn't sit right with me.

All to sell a few newspapers.

If he's not up to it there's nothing to report.
