Fox92 Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Merge if need be, I just can't find a current thread? The team has been announced so we need some discussion... Hart Walker -- Cahill -- Stones -- Bertrand Lingard -- Rooney -- Henderson -- Walcott Alli Sturridge
Wymsey Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Eurosport UK @Eurosport_UK ENGLAND XI v Malta: Hart; Walker, Cahill, Stones, Bertrand; Henderson, Rooney, Lingard, Alli, Walcott; Sturridge. Hoping they really go for it, despite the quality of the opposition.
Koke Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Cahill is so lucky that England are lacking decent CBs. He's been shocking this season ( actually for 18 months to be honest) and Chelsea fans can't wait to see the back of him. I don't see much wrong with that team apart from Rooney and Lingard - but that's Manchester United privilege for you.
Wymsey Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Sturridge loses the ball most of the time it gets to him and appears to lack the physique to battle.
fuchsntf Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Because its Malta, I would of been tempted to have Keane and Stones playing together. Sturridge might one day live up to his continual selection. I would of preferred Rashford. Outside that not much to say, Any English permatation should see off Malta.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Really hope Malta win or draw... Absolutely detest the mentality and team selections associated with England. At least Danny and Jamie are having a rest...
Phube Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 My only emotion to that team is... urrrgh! Edit: Southgate just admitted that Lingard is in because he plays for Man U!!! Joke!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Southgate to be the first caretaker manager to get the sack?
Koke Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Jesse Lingard getting a dab cam installed at Wembley. This guy is bigger than football.
fuchsntf Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 I have a smile on my face, Not scared of trying to be positive, no matter what negatives have been shoved over the English team, no matter how low we are.. Southgate gets my nod. I will wait and see, if he has his own ideas, or plays the easy game..
Fox92 Posted 8 October 2016 Author Posted 8 October 2016 Don't like Sturridge at all. Too greedy for me. Not sure how he's picked either, doesn't even start for his club.
Sir Shep Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Can't believe I'm watching this! I really do want England to succeed but I just can't see it whilst we keep maintaining this big club mentality. I bet just about every England fan outside of London, Liverpool and Manchester feels the same.
trabuch Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 I was just wondering why I'm watching - it's like a disease. Trying to think if any conclusion to this match that could bring me any joy. Maybe if Vardy comes on and gets back in the goalscoring habit.
TheSomersetFox Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Watching Rooney and Henderson in the centre of midfield is making me want to throw up
Vacamion Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 If we don't score, this will be a parked bus scenario all match and awful to watch. Would like us to score soon from a peno or free kick, open the game out and score a few more.
