Hoddle sticking up for Rooney after a horror tackle.

You can bet your life that had that been Vardy he'd have been up in arms.

Glad that Tyldesley put him straight in his place.

Can't believe I'm watching this! I really do want England to succeed but I just can't see it whilst we keep maintaining this big club mentality. I bet just about every England fan outside of London, Liverpool and Manchester feels the same.

Last time we were any good (Italia 90) our team had 2 Derby players, 3 Forest players, and one from QPR, Villa and Wolves each, plus a couple of Chelsea players in an era when Chelsea were not a major team.

Only 3 Man U, 3 Liverpool and 1 from Arsenal.

All of which backs up your point.

Can anybody see that Southgate is doing ANYTHING any different?

Wooney still playing in midfield, Stuwwidge, Henderson..etc.

We look so far exactly how we looked under Hodgson.

Do you actually think that that's funny?

Yay!

That chance came from Walcot being utterly incapable of beating his man again, so maybe there was method in Southgate's madness.

This point needs repeating at every opportunity.  No joy from me as Sturridge scored. So sad that I am losing any feeling for my national side.

Some breathtakingly arrogant stuff being said in commentary.

Not like that ever came back to bite us, eh?

Hoddle is just an utter shittrumpet.  Bin Hoddle. Please.

Commentary pisses me off.

"Hart is a spectator"

"Malta aren't coming out"

We are playing Malta ffs

Been a good half, we are at least moving the ball with pace... something that went missing at the euros, Rooney however hasn't been particularly good. Henderson looks like a new player though been superb

All those hoping Malta would win must be gutted now.

I am. just wait until Rooney scores a penalty, then our best player in history can put his feet up for a couple more years.

Tyldesley is worse for me, Clive. Watching England struggle against part-timers is bad enough (they've actually done ok today) but having Tyldesley drone on in the background makes the whole thing even tougher to watch.
