From Heroes To Zeroes

Seems to me like the players new riches has gone their heads. All I hear about Vardy is his  book and new mansion, not scoring goals anymore. Mahrez boasting about turning down Arsenal, Fuchs "scoring" goals. Drinkwater is the only one performing. The sooner they get their heads down and start working as a team the sooner we climb the table

Not sure you can call them Zeroes as they are doing VERY well in the Champions League and are performing none to shabbily at home ...    lets give them a bit more time before we write them off.    And don't forget that a certain Italian manager has a part to play in all this.

And as for the trappings of winning the league ...   fair play to the lot of them ...   they deserve it.

I think people need to calm down a little.

We have lost away at Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool. Last season we performed above and beyond, we knew it was a one off, it's simply not sustainable to perform at that level season after season.

Lets not let last season's success be the reason for hate this season.

Hull aside, I think the results have been as expected, though we have lost heavier than I would like in those away games.

We are still top of our Champions League group and a win this week would almost gautentee us a place in the last 16! Their are reasons to smile.

from being bottom at Christmas to survival to the following season champions is a meteoric rise and fans are now complaining that the big teams that have spent millions are now well beating us. realistically if we hadn't done what we did last season what would fans expectations be. then use that as a template for this season and you all will be happy as larry.

Nah...that works both ways.

We've spent millions too and many of them, smashing our transfer records.

At the same time, many many posters on here I suspect were more than happy that their heroes signed hugely lucrative new contracts to keep them at the club.

We can't then now play the 'little old Leicester' card anymore, it won't wash.

Either people ARE happy that we now have hugely paid superstars at the club or they aren't, and if they weren't why not say so at the time?

The reality is, I think, that our transfer dealings over the summer are looking so bang average at the same as the 'top clubs' this season look so much better that we've not progressed as much as we could have done. To have just made sure we signed Silva and Keane for instance would I feel, make this team look so much better whilst pushing the other squad players to strive harder.

I don't think it's complacency, money or whatever, I simply think we have not improved the squad enough.

Exactly,, if the wages have stagnated - sure, we could live with championship-like effort. Not when everyone 's been given a brand new sportscar & upgraded package. ok- not everyone got that - but 7 players score 100k+ at least.

Maybe with the inflated salary comes "self" expectation followed by doubt.

If i am Ranieri - i 'd volunteer to cancel my new deal. And see what happen to the players.

Who's the Captain? i bet he's form is no where near last year. Players gone missing - Fuch, Huth, Albrighton, Mahrez, Vardy.  Let's see how it pans out v Copenhagen FC.

For now - given the form+performance in the past few EPL games - i'd say they won't be beating any of the top-6. They will struggle to win against middle table teams unless the gaffer brings in a couple of  drastic changes.  Tinkleman pls tinkle & tinker

Obviously we haven't been good enough this season. I'm not exactly an optimist, but I think all of us would rather sit 13th and have maximum points in the CL compared to say, 5th in the league and zero points in the CL. Still a long long way to go...

Away games have been very tough too. Liverpool, Man United, Chelsea, not to mention Arsenal at home. We'll improve when we face a few mid-table sides.

Obviously shouldn't have lost to Hull, but it's the manner of the defeat in which we lost to Liverpool, United, and Chelsea.

It's sad to say but I think the desire in the league has gone at the moment and I'm not surprised. Doing the impossible and winning the league, long term contracts on larger money is ultimately the reason. I think if the majority of you were offered a contract at work and were on far higher pay and no real of getting sacked, I think it would be inevitable for a lot of you not to work as hard as you were doing.

Some fans said we'll be in a relegation dogfight but there's no chance of that. Lots of poor/average sides in this league.

Finally, I wouldn't write this squad off just yet, the criticism Vardy has received is a joke.

This is the same side that somehow survived when critics thought we were Championship bound, the same side that somehow won the league even when critics thought we'd bottle it or fade away.

I agree with you to some extent

but we haven't just lost those games we have been battered ! No heart and no effort for majority of those games

There is a lot of crap out there on players salarys

only Vardy and mahrez are in six figures

other big earners are on a par with other top earners at established PL clubs like stoke and Everton (e.g.: 75/85k) and we are talking drinks and  kasper

who else do do people think is on an unrealistic package??

give the heroes some slack. It's clearly not easy to get it right mentally after what they achieved last year but they are the same guys and we will see an improvement in the league away from home

They're still heroes, and always will be once the negative air surrounding our recent thrashings has worn off and we look back on the era we are currently in the middle of experiencing.

After all, we don't remember Izzet, Elliott et al. for the relegation seasons, do we?

how would people feel if we finished bottom of our CL group, but were in the top half of the league?

I'd be gutted to be honest.

In that group? I'd be mortified, we couldn't have picked many easier groups if we were allowed to.

Too many people are missing the point here.

It's not about us not being top anymore or losing to bigger clubs away. It's about us rolling over and showing no fight or ability to do the basics.

The players still have to earn their £100K a week and the least they could do is put in a bit of effort.

We only have heroes...

last year was brilliant.I aint going to sit on any jury until EOS.

After 60yrs I have earnt the right, to bathe in a full seasons glory of being PL Champions.

why worry about whats happening game by game, and not enjoy this season, of listening

to reporters repeating PL champions. All of us were shting ourselves upto Spurs vs Chelsea

that we might miss out on THE ONE SINGLE CHANCE.

This season is relax time...no big PL moments , No top 4, most likely no top 6.

But more important no bottom 4....I have accepted, we aint a normal set up of a club.

We are just  simply DUTY FREE...no more, no less..

Jesus we have even got a non Leicester relevant ex-king of England buried in our backgarden.

So out of nowhere, under  2yrs we had, non football fans and football fans alike, suddenly

wanted to know about a strange town on the river soar....

We stay fearless, by remembering again...'We know what we are'

So why the stress, surely it cant be being scared of returning to " normal service will be resumed"..:scarf:

Some good and measured replies on here, after fuming for a few hours on Saturday I've come to the realisation that we should be delighted we got to enjoy last season, a club our size has won the PL and played in the CL which only a bunch of English 'elite' clubs should can say, and the legacy of last season shouldn't cloud all our subsequent seasons. We're in the PL, we've established ourselves, and that would have been a dream a few years ago. Look at Forest / Derby / Leeds / Wolves / Ipswich / Blackburn etc - we're doing OK.

Think one of the main problems this season is how do we beat what we did last season and the truth is we won't. We are in the Champions League but we have to be realistic we won't win it (Although it would be nice to). I think a lot of people on here now think we are a big club we are not, we didn't break the big clubs monopoly we just stopped it for a short time.

Coming back from Man Utd the other week I was speaking to some Forest fans on the train and they were glad we won the league last season so they could see the big boys squirm and their last words were at least no-one can take what you did last season away from you, so we enjoy it while we can.

Posted

I think everyone should just relax a little once we start facing some of the poorer teams in the league and the winning mentality is back in swing we will start picking up a lot of points.

We we played 3 top clubs away from home and been beat quite easily.

Pre season wasn't the best and we haven't really had much of a break.

when you do something as incredible as we did last season surely you can expect a bit of a slow start.

give them some slack and we could be in the knock out stages of the CL and pushing up the table again pretty soon.

not only that but a world class key player is missing, so that's not gonna be sorted overnight with the poor window we had.

time to step it up boys

Agreed, but it's the nature of our performances that have everyone upset. Last year we got smashed 2-5 by Arsenal at home, and yet most fans were not upset. We had a real go at them all the way till the end. Yes we were far too open and ran into Alexis Sanchez on a good day, but we felt proud of our team. Our recent performances have looked gutless!

I can take losing, I can take getting smashed. But I want to see my team try and play with pride. Think the infamous 3-3 draw with Arsenal at Filbert Street all those years ago. Bergkamp was absolute magic with probably the finest solo performance ever seen at the ground, and yet we got a draw through sheer determination. That is what we were all about last season, but have forgotten it this!

We can turn it around, but our players need to remember why we became Champions.

I do think we will be ok, we're still a very good side with a talented squad. It might even be just one good result home or away, that could spur us on into better form.

It is a little concerning as to why we are not playing with the same intensity, but we're still good enough to turn it around. Perspective is starting to arise, as despite the manner in which we've lost away from home, we have come up against Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea. November I can see us picking up points.

Are you serious lol Stoke don't pay 80k a week for anyone!

Ranieri insists on a gameplan that is now a dream for the opposition to play against.

Yes it doesnt work with no kante but the belief and intensity just isnt there like last season.

continue to set up and "play" that way and we will get thrashed on a regular basis by the better teams.
