Huth or Morgan

Assuming we get this Italian centre half (or one of our other targets) and assuming he's bloody good (fingers crossed) which one of legendary "nightclub bouncers" cb pairing would you look to phase out? Obviously Wes is captain and more mobile than Huth and better on the ball but the german wall is far better at organising the defence around him. personally as much as it pains me to say I would probably play the new lad with Wes and drop Huth when the time comes.

Also would people want the new lad purely as cover this year or would you want to see him getting matches?

Replace both.

Both served the club well, but getting past it to command starting places, and both have struggled this season.

As I stated in the transfer thread, both seem to have lost half a yard this season, and huth wasn't blessed with pace before.

The clubs ambitions will become clear in the summer, if we go into next season, with this pair first choice.

They could both play vital parts in the squad, but both are in the twilights of their careers.

Also with that, Morgan is captain, I would give that to kasper, with Fuchs vice captain.

Morgan is back to panicking and goofing when he gets the ball. Also being outmuscled more often. I'd drop him as I don't see the on pitch leadership compared to Huth.

Huth by a country mile. See Monday's game where Morgan laid a chance on a plate for Boro whilst Huth just nodded everything away.

See NYE when Huth was man of the match.

See Boxing Day when Morgan made a complete arse of himself trying to trip Lukaku.

Either way I think the partnership has run its' course. Huth is the better defender so along as any new CB is more mobile and doesn't treat the ball like a grenade, I'd play him alongside Huth.

You never know, we could want to try three at the back. The issue at the minute is we haven't got enough quality CBs to play it. With one or two new signings on the other hand..

I'd keep Huth if it was a choice between the 2, and as a few have mentioned Kasper takes the armband.

However i'm not sure claudio will be as ruthless, afterall, I know he never wanted to upset the apple cart when he took over, but he should have stripped morgan of the captaincy then.

You say that but he almost immediately got rid of two long serving players in Nugent and Konchesky. I'd like to think that he knows when a player isn't good enough anymore.

I would keep Wes, and seeing as we are looking at a defender who is left footed and plays on the left side of a two then I'm sure that is also the thinking from the manager.

I'd be tempted with three at the back and play with wingbacks. Potentially Chillwell on the left and even maybe Amartey on the right.

Albrighton would probably be the immediate choice on the right. I wouldn't be surprised if he's thought about it. At the minute he just can't because we don't have  a decent third CB.

Huth is the better defender. Morgan is back to being Calamity Morgan at times. Huth is also better at organising. This legendary partnership has run its course.

Huth play with Acerbi, and Schmeichel gets the armband.

Consider morale

Dropping Morgan would actually affect the squad. The man who's played 81 games (swear that's the number i heard) running in the Premier League and was absolutely brilliant last season, dropped

Form may not be great right now but if this new lad just walks into the side I think it'd make everyone scratch their heads i.e. why did it take Gray so long to start playing regular minutes, and Kaputska none at all? Yet new centre back strolls into the side

Wait 'till summer before deciding on partnerships.

Tough one, Huth more assured defensible but he's so bad on the ball: he played great against Boro but is so keen to boot it into touch.

Neither are particularly young though and I think ideally we want someone around 27 replacing one and a younger players coming through.

Woah woah. Aside from being an absolute unit, what about Amartey has told you he'd be a dangerous attacking threat?

His pace, which he demonstrated while at Copenhagen on several occasions. Also, Ranieri said when signing him that he can play 'centre back, central midfielder, rightback, right winger'. If I remember correctly in one of his first games he played he whipped a few balls in which weren't too shabby.

You say that but we're asking two CBs who are approaching their mid thirties to play over 40 games this season. I'm not saying drop him for good, but he needs to play less games.
