I am incapable of doing any partisan hyperbolic ranting because what you did last season was probably the greatest peice of consistent team play in a 100 years or more. As someone said earlier in this thread, people like you because you are "normal" flattery over ... We are going to give you a game. We don't have anything like your firepower but on the right day we are a good unit especially the back 4 ( although we have lost 4 left backs in as many weeks ) In the middle we have Will Hughes who would be a Prem player but for a lack of goals .. Creative and growing stronger As he becomes a senior player rather than a wil of the wisp kid. New loanee De Sart had a strong debut at DM. Then either Bradley Johnson, Craig Bryson or Jacob Butterfield in the 3rd midfield slot. All can do a job if you lot let them. Hard to to say who will play in the front 3 probably Darren Bent .. Still got it but acceleration isn't what it was when he was in his pomp. Tom Ince on the right, in great form could damage anyone. On the left .. JOhnny Russell .. Full of energy and drive but careless in the touch or Razza Camara, lightning quick but not so good defensively. Is Ranieri likely to play a strong/full strength team ? .....tough for us against your quality but it's a team game One thing for sure it'll be a sell out and a great atmosphere ...May the best team win I'd say yes judging on the lineup he put out against Everton. I think we'll match up to you with your 4-3-3 rather than the 4-4-2 we were known for last season, an our midfield 3 of Mendy - Ndidi - Drinkwater (if Ranieri does decide to go full strength) should outclass your midfield. Nugent is nailed on to score. Should be a cracker.

It's our first local derby (yes, we know you hate Forest more) in 3 years so we're looking forward to it and will be taking a strong away following. On our day we can still beat anyone, but we haven't had many of them away from home this season. Expecting a tough game, especially as our Nige has finally taught you lot how to defend
ScouseFox Posted 11 January 2017 Posted 11 January 2017 magical when you read through that post and look at the names. johnny russell. craig bryson "will do us if we let him". jacob butterfield. just shows how far we've come.

Don't forget we had a weeks break either side of the Everton game - we'll have Burnley on the Tuesday night this time. Last time we played a Tuesday night following the Saturday in the Prem we lost to Bournemouth, when (if I remember correctly) Ranieri admitted that he couldn't expect the same players to play with the same intensity. I don't think we'll be making 10/11 changes like Bournemouth/Liverpool but I don't think we'll be at full strength. Probably 4/5 would be more likely.
ScouseFox Posted 11 January 2017 Posted 11 January 2017 also presumably still be without the AFCON players which is 3 of our first choice starting eleven anyway. so even if we only "rest" a couple we'll be half a first team down.
Koke Posted 11 January 2017 Posted 11 January 2017 We got Burnley away 3 days later and Manchester United 4 days after that. I doubt he'll play a full strength side. Ranieri rested guys like Mahrez and played Schlupp vs Chelsea away because we had a CL game 3 days later, and with resoect to Derby, if Chelsea away don't warrant a full strength side then Derby certainly don't. I just think Ranieri will have an eye on Burnley and United coming up.

Very true, but I think Claudio will make this one his priority. Progression here, against a rival... i'd be surprised if he didn't
David Guiza Posted 11 January 2017 Posted 11 January 2017 With regard to team selection, a lot perhaps depends on how we do in the next couple of games. If we manage to pick up some points and built up more of a gap between ourselves and the bottom 3 then I don't see why we wouldn't go full strength. However, should we be dragged back into it all then, rightly or wrongly, I'd be surprised if Claudio valued the FA Cup over the Burnley game. The next few weeks could really turn the season around with progression in the FA Cup and solidity in the league, whilst awaiting one of the biggest games in our history.
ealingfox Posted 11 January 2017 Posted 11 January 2017 We won't play a full-strength side. As pointed out we can't anyway, because our best player is away at AFCON (and so are Slimani and Mahrez ), and we have 2 PL games in the following 7 days. Still a good few weeks before Sevilla though so he prob won't have an eye on that yet. It'll be stronger than the Porto lineup but still a good few changes Id say.

I'd still fancy the Porto line up against Derby to be fair. Zieler Hernandez Morgan Wasyl Chilwell Mendy Drinkwater Gray Okazaki Schlupp Musa We'd probably play Schmeichel, Simpson, Ndidi and Vardy and make it a 4-3-3 with Gray, Musa and Vards up top. Should be more than enough. Schmeichel Simpson Morgan Hernandez Chilwell Mendy Ndidi Drinwkater Gray Vardy Musa

FraserSorensen Posted 11 January 2017 Posted 11 January 2017 Interesting article from the Telegraph about which 4th round games they think will be picked for TV, and which ones they feel should be picked. Quote Whether or not this fixture is actually known as the Robbie Savage derby among fans of the two clubs we are not too sure. However, fans of a certain vintage will be hoping when 1946 FA Cup winners Derby – who incidentally had a player by the name of Peter Doherty score against Charlton in the 4-1 win at Wembley – face Premier League champions Leicester City they can tune in on TV to watch the action unfold. True, those fans will have to be pretty old to recall the last FA Cup meeting between the two sides – it was in 1909 – but this East Midlands derby must surely be shown on television, mustn't it? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/01/10/five-fa-cup-fourth-round-ties-should-tv-five-think-will-picked/
lgfualol Posted 11 January 2017 Posted 11 January 2017 Won't be televised when Arsenal, Man U, Spurs, etc are still in the cup.

Though I think Andy King will probably play instead of maybe Mendy. All depends on our next two games against Chelsea and Southampton.
