STUHILL Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 This will only happen if they get Jese and/or Bojan. I hope we have alternatives, as Boro could end up with Jese/Bojan and Ramirez and us with nobody! The transfer request just suggests that Boro aren't keen on letting him go. Not sure it is even about money either. All to do with them getting a replacement or two. Not ideal situation for us to be in a chain like this, but fingers crossed it works out, Certainly seems like they are close to landing Jese
Fox 4 Life Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 If the release clause is true let's just fooking pay it and move on. We will just about cover the extra 3m from the games that were moved for tv in feb/March alone.

RowlattsFox Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 Has there ever been a deadline day where the majority of teams are playing fixtures the same night? Not sure managers will have full focus on the games.

There is no release clause according to Boro fans and I think we would have triggered it and got it done already. I imagine Boro are stalling on offers, not due to ours being that much lower than they want, but more so to buy some time, so they can get a replacement sorted before they accept any bid from us. If their targets fall through, then they won't sell, so I expect some time wasting from them over our bids, unless Jese or Bojan are signed soon! Knowing this window though, clubs, players and agents will be stalling so they can get more money from increasingly desperate buyers! Expect this could go down to the last day

Come on mate!

Come on mate! Baring in mind I cannot remember the last time we signed a player who wasn't reported in the press for weeks before (due to our inability to get transfers over the line quickly and efficiently) then yes I am saying that. Perhaps we have got targets, but why haven't we bid for them? Why do we wait until the last few days where we've seen in the last several windows we are abysmal at getting more than one transfer done at any given time. Look at the summer. It was ghostly silent on all transfers from the end of July until the last week of August. Ranieri had been very vague about wanting anymore players then he suddenly said we'd be doing everything we could to get more in. Yes we got Slimani but that was an effort and we all know what happened with Silva. Why did it come to that when we know we aren't as ruthless as other clubs at getting signings made? It happened last January too. This is just an average fans view point who has no inside knowledge, so I appreciate you're in a better position to counter all of this. But that's what it looks like from the outside and I don't buy that we've got everything under control. I think there's a huge weakness in our recruitment of players, from the identification to the negotiation with club and player. It's the pits.

Fuchs Zieler benny Kapustka (once was public we had pretty well got him signed) okazaki We don't publicise our transfers and if it leaks, it's cos the other side or the agent want it to
Mike Oxlong Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 To be fair as of a couple of days ago there had been very little transfer business in the PL and we were involved in two of the top 5 money deals - sale of Jeff and the purchase of Wilfred.

How do u know we haven't bid for players & when u say we aren't as ruthless as other clubs who do you mean? Just because u bid for a player doesn't mean that a transfer gets done immediately like on Football manager. We're not the only club struggling to get deals done early, that's just the way of the market. The transfer market is so complicated now with all the factors involved, especially agents etc. Like I said it's like buying a house where there's a chain. You can bid for a player but a club aren't going to sell u that player unless they have a replacement lined up and the club that's selling that club the replacement player aren't going to sell to them until they have a replacement and so on. You'll see the Dominoe effect when a big deal goes through that allows all the other deals in the chain to happen. With the ffp coming in, gone are the days where u can just throw cash around bullying clubs to get deals done early like we did under Sven. Totally understand that it's frustrating to us all but that's just the way it is

Zieler's happened fairly quickly, I forgot about that one but Okazaki dragged on, Benalouane was reported in the Italian press for several days/weeks as we were all baffled we were after him and Kapustka there'd been numerous links too.

We don't get those deals across the line. The fact is we need 2-3 new players with a couple of days to go and there's no way we'll get them. We aren't capable.

As fans we may want 2or 3 players but CR and the club may only want one. We don't know what the club want. The club may have been talking to 2 or 3 clubs for 2 or 3 weeks. Again we don't know. The players we want may or may not want to joins. Again we don't know. The clubs we have targeted may not want to sell or just trying to get the most money. Again not saying it. But you blame our club but you have no information to really judge. Or would you rather we raid the first and second divisions and get in five piles of sh1t?

Michael Keane was playing in the championship last season and we'd all take him.

Dr The Singh Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 If this signing happens, it will be the nail in the coffin for CR. I'm confused on what creativity this guy can offer, and how he will fit in a already poorly performing midfield which does little to protect the defence!

Well there's been a few occasions this season when Okazaki broke forward with the ball and he either fell over or made a bad pass. If Gaston can make some of those passes it'll certainly look more promising.
