Baring in mind I cannot remember the last time we signed a player who wasn't reported in the press for weeks before (due to our inability to get transfers over the line quickly and efficiently) then yes I am saying that. Perhaps we have got targets, but why haven't we bid for them? Why do we wait until the last few days where we've seen in the last several windows we are abysmal at getting more than one transfer done at any given time. Look at the summer. It was ghostly silent on all transfers from the end of July until the last week of August. Ranieri had been very vague about wanting anymore players then he suddenly said we'd be doing everything we could to get more in. Yes we got Slimani but that was an effort and we all know what happened with Silva. Why did it come to that when we know we aren't as ruthless as other clubs at getting signings made? It happened last January too. This is just an average fans view point who has no inside knowledge, so I appreciate you're in a better position to counter all of this. But that's what it looks like from the outside and I don't buy that we've got everything under control. I think there's a huge weakness in our recruitment of players, from the identification to the negotiation with club and player. It's the pits.

Your first choice player might not be available at the start of the window. You can then either buy your 2nd/3rd choice early just to get a player in, or wait a bit longer to see if it's possible to get the first choice in. Sometimes it works and you get your man, sometimes it doesn't and then it might look like you are getting desperate towards the end of the window. However, you wouldn't always want to settle for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th choice etc just to get a player in quick.

So is he a DD type or a Shinji type, i'm still not convinced we have a role for him

Shinji.

Without a doubt. I think he fits perfectly behind the striker and can link up play better than anyone else we have, and that's without playing people out of position.

There is definitely an element in the club that don't want to lose face in the regards to paying over the odds for a player. I get that. However we are hardly in a position to be playing chicken with clubs over a couple of million, when Premier League football is at stake.

Look at centre back for example we've currently got 4 recognised centre backs in the squad, 3 of them are in the twilight of their careers and on a decline rather than improving. Then we have Benny who's not really had a chance to prove himself and wasn't helped with his back problem.

Now isnt the time time to be ****ing about on deals such as the Acerbi/Nastasic deals. We need improvement in that position and if we don't their is the genuine threat of relegation. It's playing with fire.

what's with the bashing of shinji? Surely everyone knows it's what Shinji does off the ball is, not on it. Yes we need someone who's good on the ball like Ramirez, but Shinji can still be effective for us.

Hallelujah. Ranieri has signed 2 defenders since he's been here and both of them have been played out of position when they've briefly played. It's quite astounding, given he's Italian that he's not considered the defence a huge priority. We are shipping goals very easily, we have an aging backline that not only are conceding goals but playing atrociously and yet here we are with 4 days to go and very little appearing to being done.

I am very disturbed by Ranieri.

If we don't buy any new players in this window and we end up getting relegated, who's fault would it be? Apart from the players who couldn't give a toss anyway they think they are big time Charlie's and will stay in the Prem with a new team. Is it's the Club management or CR?

Albert has already alluded to the fact that we're looking at more than just the two centre backs already linked.

There's an underlying hysteria on here with people choosing not to listen to any sensible posts.

We need someone with more quality. He dosent create chances for our players. He can't pick a pass like Ramirez can.

Bids are unlikely to have been made though, there's no way nothing would have been reported. So why at this stage are we not bidding for defenders? It really has got this desperate, after sunday I'd have probably bid for 20 new defenders hoping just to get 1 or 2. We are a disgrace at the back.

Totally disagree with this, it's not underlying at all!

Simply won't happen, it was more believable we'd win the league last season than us signing multiple players in the closing days of a window. We haven't the ability. Rudkin's got one task syndrome.

Why is this not done yet or anything.

The owners want to see if they can beat the 'Nathan Dyer 'GET TO DA CHOPPA' challenge' which ultimately means leaving it to deadline day.

Albert came on and said none of this is Rudkin's fault, well it is Albert I'm sorry.
