Hammo Posted 28 January 2017 Posted 28 January 2017 I am getting so fed up of watching the same old clueless garbage week in week out. We are so terrible to watch. Having the consistently useless Okazaki in the side is like playing with ten men - is Claudio taking the piss or what? What does he ever do apart from fall over and grin? Mahrez and Gray are the only outfield players of genuine footballing talent we possess. The defence is over the hill. Drinkwater and Vardy have lost their edge, and Ranieri, it seems, the plot. Still, thank heavens we didn't lose to that lot. But if we play like that again, even a team as mediocre as Derby could turn us over at our place.
Raj Posted 28 January 2017 Posted 28 January 2017 The game...Atmosphere from us on the whole was crap considering the occasion. Thought we were outsung by the (I presume) the Derby kop end for most of the game. Secong half we were on top and if we had any player who wouldn't just shoot straight at Varsons orange bloody Jersey we would have won On the whole though we were pretty grim. Hughes,Once and the other winger made mince meat out of us at times. Still in the cup,BUT we need to change a) our mentality and b) our system as its not working as our top striker is NOT being used to his strengths. If your not going to use Vardy to his strengths we need to sell him,use Slimani and just keep limping them.crap balls upto him,as that's all we seem to do most of the time. IF and WHEN we decide to play football,we look loads better. And all those lauding Gray as the new Messiah.. NO...Hes not..Nowhere near..but he could be...

I appreciate it's very frustrating watching the Premier League Champions put in such sub standard performances as we know they are far better individually and collectively than what they have demonstrated so far this season, but I believe the fans need to play their part too as our support over the previous two seasons certainly played a role in picking the team up when the going got tough. You're right but fans have a choice about how they spend their time or money and both our team and the manager need to remember that. I don't ask much as a fan - just 100% effort and a commitment to play with attitude and intent. Sadly that's not often been the case this season. .

Thracian Posted 28 January 2017 Posted 28 January 2017 42 minutes ago, Clever Fox said: Overall another poor performance. Confidence is disappearing quickly from the players. You can see many of them don't want the ball and when they get it take the easy option of sideways or backwards. King has possession on the edge of their Box and the ball ends up back with Kasper, appalling. He was also the cause of the 2nd Goal, not that he got much help from DD. Gray offer nothing except wasting possession. Vardy I felt a bit sorry for because he's not getting any service from anyone. He's not been played in or getting any decent balls over the top. Oki tried but falls over too much, maybe he needs Rugby studs in his Boots .Albrighton I thought was our best player as at least he tried. I still cannot understand switching him left when Mahrez came on, just leave them to support each other. On the plus side at least we're still in the cup and I'm sure we'll be better at home. There were four or five reasons for their second goal, the first being our lofting the ball into the air. We dominated the second half because we tried much harder to pass the ball along the ground. As for Gray he made our equaliser and very nearly scored as well. .

Ian Nacho Posted 28 January 2017 Posted 28 January 2017 I think the main problem with the team at the moment is the defence and more specifically both central defenders. Firstly, Morgan and Huth are past it, they're far too old and sluggish to be partnered up together, maybe one of them will work well with another defender but together is a big no no. This season Morgan and Huth have been exposed due to the fact we don't have Kanté protecting them, also when Morgan and Huth played together 2 seasons ago they were in a complete different formation with Wasilewksi in the defence also. Morgan and Huth also play a big part in the way we play going forward also as both of them are god awful at passing the ball which forces them to play a simple backwards pass or lump it up the field which completely changes how the team set out and the style of play. Even against lower league opposition we just looked like an absolute shambles at the back at times, yes I know Simpson and Fuchs also contribute to the defence and they both have their issues but at the moment I feel like Morgan and Huth are the biggest problem. We need to try and get someone in before Tuesday who can actually defend for one, is fairly nippy compared to Morgan and Huth and also someone who can pass the ball, whether that's Acerbi or Nastasic I don't know. If we can't get anyone in to strengthen the defence we need to play either Mendy or N'Didi just infront of the defence to offer defensive cover and also to provide an attacking outlet from the defence.

MattCan Posted 28 January 2017 Posted 28 January 2017 The pair Drinkwater-King is just too soft as defensive midfield (unless Ranieri underestimated Derby). I think we should experiment with Drinkwater-Ndidi for a while if we're gonna play the 4-4-1-1.
