Ric Flair Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 Huth and Simpson were very poor in the first half and Fuchs barely had a touch. The disappearance of Jamie Vardy continues and alongside Okazaki who is having one of his stints of falling over and nutmegging himself every time he gets the ball we looked toothless. All 3 of our subs had an impact and Ranieri has got to start making some braver decisions on the underperforming players. This is now a massive a 4 days, we so badly need at LCB and a right back. Even if we get those I'm looking at Vardy and Okazaki and they're nowhere. Perhaps another attacker wouldn't be such a stupid idea after all? Ramirez I'm assuming will sign and thankfully he can take Okazaki's role.

Can't criticise him for that. You can criticise him for not getting into positions to receive the ball to feet - we had 62% possession today and he still couldn't get the ball played into his feet (against Championship centre backs). You can also criticise him for missing an absolute sitter in the second half. His movement, touch and finishing aren't ever Premier League standard let alone the obscene money we're paying him.

As poor as we were Derby were not better than us, they relied on our poor defending and poor finishing. Unless we're playing Barcelona please can we never start a game with 3 fullbacks again. On that I fully agree. But they at least scored without relying on set pieces or own goals. And could string more than two passes together. They're in championship for god's sake.

We played a mediocre championship and were matched by them (if not better) in most areas. That was poor. Have we fallen this far that our aspirations are this low. We never once looked a league above. Much of this poor performance is down to confidence and by the looks of it fitness. We were marginally fitter than Derby but not by much that's possibly why we had high ball %.
Matt Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 Well that was a load of shit. Why are we in the 27th of January and still not done anything about our slow, laboured, lump of a defence. SORT IT! Claudio looked clueless tonight, I really think he is (and I can understand why, but at the same it's his fault why, he must be at his whit's end). I know we scored last minute to force it to a replay but i'm really questioning desire and if they're playing for Ranieri now, it's getting beyond a joke. Was nearly right (Yet so far away) from my prediction of 3-1 Derby with our goal coming from an OG.
Ric Flair Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 Andy King was dross again. I'm hoping Ndidi was rested tonight and not dropped for Kingy.
Legend_in_blue Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 We were never going to walk over them after our last abysmal run out. It was an improvement. Nothing more.

Mahrez and Gray need to start with Slimani as a front 3. Chilwell still not quite ready. Simpson, Morgan and Huth looks so uncomfortable on the ball and we have to replace at least 2 of them in this window! Albrighton and Okazaki for all their hard work and desire, simply don't have enough quality to play at the top level. King, is the same as ever. Does the basics OK, but nothing else. We need a midfielder who is either a lot stronger defensively, or offers more in attack. Drinkwater still looks well short of confidence and he is so essential for us. he also isn't working hard enough in defence, which he has no excuses for. Mahrez although predictable with his turns inside on his left, still played a number of key through balls and along with Gray, looks the only player in our team who is comfortable on the ball. Claudio was shouting for the players to keep it on the ground! At least he can see it is such an issue for us but he really shouldn't have to be telling them. They should already know and see how ineffective it is. Under no illusions though. We would have been easily beaten by a Premier League team. Derby were awful and can't see them being promoted any time soon. Want to see 4-3-3 and us sign Ramirez, 2 CB's and a RB in this window. Anything less, and I fear for us. Very good assessment.

I think we have a chance, not because we're that good, but because the championship is so dog**** tbh. Brighton and Newcastle are good.. Leeds and Reading are decent.. the rest from 5th to 10th are distinctly average, ourselves included sadly . it shows how far away we are when you played poor and still should have won with the chances.

Carson MOTM surely? There was very little to pick between the two teams, and we are supposedly Champions of England! It's not like we battered you and you made us look pretty ordinary throughout. Draw was probably a fair result on balance though.

But yeah I agree, he should start league games although Fuchs will play vs Seville for sure. You're right in the main but it's a bit harsh to blame Chilwell for their first. Okay he should have closed down quicker instead of pretending to cover the runner but I'm not sure he'd have been quick enough and the resulting header into the net was pretty much undefendable. Yes, it's another point on his learning curve but, overall, I thought the lad involved himself fully in what was a quick and combative game. He did some good things and some not so good but he never shirked responsibility and showed goodish close control in tight situations most of the time. It meant did did have some presence down our left, and that, along with the all-round industry of our team was in stark contrast to our abyssmal showing on the south coast. Second half, bar their two chances, I thought there was only one team making the momentum. I just wish we had two central strikers showing any signs that they might score sometime although one save from Shinji was excellent. As others have said, Vardy still looked way below his breathtaking best and has done all season. He's almost like Samson when he had his hair cut - all his strength seems to have gone and with Shinji being pretty limited in terms of threat it's becoming a real handicap. For all that though it was much more encouraging and much more entertaining. We looked like a team again and everyone played a part. That's not been the case too often this season.
Johnthefoxrayner Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 Well done to Morgan he got us out the crap

J.Lisemore Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 Didn't think we were that bad, just frustrating that we didn't take our chances. Although it was clear to see that King isn't good enough, Hughes is twice the player he is

Matt Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 It was a Championship game, infact I think we were better when we were in the Championship.
Larry_LCFC Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 Cracks. Papering. Over. We are an embarrassment to the title of champions.
Johnthefoxrayner Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 Where do we go from here doesn't look like we are going to sign anyone. Trip to Burnley looks daunting and relegation looming

I honestly think he will be a decent Premier League player eventually. Has so much talent, just got an awful injury record, which has struck again tonight.

No matter how bad it gets he deserves respect after the last 18 months. He does deserve respect and if he keeps us playing positively like that he'll get it off most folk. I'd have said the same if Derby had hung on. No-one could fault our commitment to trying to claw the game back. Some could argue we could have scored from this chance or that but I'll never fault people for taking responsibility and shooting on target. some go in some don't but I will complain when we don't attack and we don't compete. Tonight I'd doubt that any of our players are much short of knackered. They showed some pride and contributed to the sort of game I'd happily pay to see so credit where it's due and that includes Ranieri. .
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 27 January 2017 Posted 27 January 2017 Chap 1st half. Better 2nd. Not great but at least they showed grit to get back in the game and created chances for the 1st time in 3 games.
