Derby Away Post Match Thread 2 - 2

Potential... our forward players following the subs.  Simpson, King and the centre backs are a different philosophy.

You really have to be joking. King provided the outlet ball time and again then spread the play to maintain our momentum. No he wasn't a one-man band - there were a whole lot of good contributions in the second half, but he kept things efficient and brought everyone into the game with his usual minimum of fuss.

Even Simpson tried to get forward a bit and Chilwell almost camped in the attacking half at times for all that he didn't always choose the right pass or feed it quickly enough.

We were by far the better team aside from a 15 minute period at the end of the second half.  What in liked was ranieri getting really pissed off with the high balls forward. No doubt in my mind it will be huth he wants to replace as he never looks for the simple ball.

Played great football when at there feet this hoof ball needs to stop get Shearer in I say

I agree we're actually decent when we pass it about. If we start with Gray and Mahrez we can seriously frighten teams. We need to build our team around them. Gray made an instant difference tonight.

Musa is wasted out wide though. Perhaps he needs a chance up front. Vardy was dreadful so why not give Musa a go up top at Burnley? I'd prefer Slimani to be fair. I think a front 3 of Slim, Riyad and Dimmy would work. Drinky wasn't bad tonight as well.

The back 4 need replacing though, quick time. It won't happen now. Maybe 1 will come in if we're lucky. I think Chilwell has made the left-back spot his now to be fair, unfortunately for Fuchs.

Use tonight as another learning experience.

Vardy needs to sit out for a while. Mahrez and Gray need to start with Slimani as a front 3.

Chilwell still not quite ready.

Simpson, Morgan and Huth looks so uncomfortable on the ball and we have to replace at least 2 of them in this window!

Albrighton and Okazaki for all their hard work and desire, simply don't have enough quality to play at the top level.

King, is the same as ever. Does the basics OK, but nothing else. We need a midfielder who is either a lot stronger defensively, or offers more in attack.

Drinkwater still looks well short of confidence and he is so essential for us. he also isn't working hard enough in defence, which he has no excuses for.

Mahrez although predictable with his turns inside on his left, still played a number of key through balls and along with Gray, looks the only player in our team who is comfortable on the ball.

Claudio was shouting for the players to keep it on the ground! At least he can see it is such an issue for us but he really shouldn't have to be telling them. They should already know and see how ineffective it is.

Under no illusions though. We would have been easily beaten by a Premier League team. Derby were awful and can't see them being promoted any time soon.

Want to see 4-3-3 and us sign Ramirez, 2 CB's and a RB in this window. Anything less, and I fear for us.

Probably gonna get shot down again for 'having a go at the kids' but Chilwell 'not quite ready'? He was useless. Kept running forward, losing the ball and ending up out of position.  Against anyone any good, we'd have been slaughtered tonight.

Desperately need a right back and a centre back who don't treat the ball like a bomb. Oh and start Chilwell every game. Fuchs is beyond shite at the minute.

Chilwell had a number of good moments tonight although at fault for the first goal. But yeah I agree, he should start league games although Fuchs will play vs Seville for sure.

We should have won the game, but for poor finishing we'd have won comfortably. Slimani would definitely have scored at least one of them chances. Derby goals came from nowhere, someone needs to be sacked if we don't sign a defender before Tuesday.

Its disappointing to concede so late on from a corner :(

But tbh I don't think we have much to moan about, we didn't deserve it, 2-1 up and defended well but no quality 2nd half and you should have won with the chances you had.

Carson MOTM surely?

There were lots of positives in that ! We were better than our last game. We looked 'bothered'. We created chances. We're still in the cup. We'll probably win the replay.  Some squad players got minutes in their legs.

I disagree. Forget it was Derby. We played a mediocre championship and were matched by them (if not better) in most areas. That was poor. Have we fallen this far that our aspirations are this low.  We never once looked a league above.
