Surely his service merits a testimonial game, possibly in the summer. Usually happens after retirement but seen a lot of clubs do it over the years while they're still playing - Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard etc.

How do they usually pick testimonial opposition? I can't imagine he'd be that bothered about playing Chelsea be just because he was there as a youth for a bit.

Could also feature Nuge, Kevin Phillips (only a couple of years retired), Stearman, Gradel, Schwarzer, Morison and if fit by then De Laet and Fryatt, Conrad sub obviously. Or the celebrity option with Kasabian, Rusty Lee and Willie Thorne.

Maybe with greedy agents behind them not as many players are spending their career at a single club.

Though I can't imagine Andy pulling in Gazza and Chris Evans some how! All joking aside though I am of the opinion that these days players really don't need these as they aren't exactly poor are they. Perhaps still relevant in the lower leagues but I'm sure Andy doesn't need a new car right now. Best thing is for the club to take him out on the lash and get steaming, after the season ends.

ozleicester Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 I love Andy King. Testimonial games are a left over from the 60s/ 70s when players were poorly paid and it gave them something to carry over till they got a real job. These people are paid too much and are lauded weekly.
