That little confused face with those lil glasses. Ah man, tear to the eye.

Not a very inspiring list.

.Said it earlier in the week that Michael O'Neill of Northern Ireland might not be a bad option for next manager.

It's just the World Cup year which is the problem for any international manager.

Wouldn't put it past Northern Ireland to qualify either

Some pretty wretched options there. It makes me even more fed up about our situation. Our club needs someone special - I mean informed, aware and invigorated.

Not just a brilliant man manager but an analytical and inspiring coach, someone with up to date knowledge of the best talent around and the ability to evaluate their potential contribution to a given situation but also a man who can think and plan ahead for the future and nurture truly capable people to grow with the club and take ever greater responsibilities within the organisation.

Also a person who can work with ease among the media and in such a way to provide information, and through that service, effect a degree of support from those people.

Media journalists feed off stories and so long as they get enough they won't normally be destructive, unless you give them no option. The key is to provide different stories or, failing that,  different angles to the same stories so that everyone gets a pat on the back from their bosses. The media can be a friend as well as an enemy so better the former when times get tough.

The coaching set-up needs to be evolving with new ideas being tested all the time alongside the tried and tested. In the end though the club needs to develop and continually work to improve on a playing identity, an attitude which makes the teams enjoyable to play for - positive teams that try to score goals and lift supporters off their seats. Brave teams with the nerve to win things.

The fans need to be included in evolving the mood of the club and to understand what they're being asked to support and why. They need to feel and to be a part of it.

Can I imagine all the above and more from people on the bookies potential manager list? No. Yet this is Premiership football we're talking about or aspiring Championship football at worst.

It makes me genuinely sad and for lots of reasons.

I'd sooner have Dean Thomas than some of that lot.

It's funny, I'd take Pardew now but only if we sacked him in the summer.

All in all, not exactly an inspiring list.

I'd say it's worse than before we appointed Claudio.
