Good TV/Radio Pundits Who's Points You Respect

Plenty of slagging off of Savage, Merson, Carragher et al.

Are there any whose views you feel are genuine?

For me I like Ian Wright on Sunday's 606, I thought Darren Fletcher was good and unbiased even though he's a Forest fan. I quite like Shearer on MOTD, generally he's honest and insightful.

Oddly, I really though Stan Collymore spoke sense and was forthright and honest. A shame he's currently going through depression.

Martin O'Neill.

Not for the obvious connection to Leicester but he's always managed to be decent and entertaining regardless of what game he's watching.

Stan Collymore lol. gotta disagree with you on that one.

Like Thierry Henry & Gary Neville the most.

And I don't know where he's disappeared to recently, and I don't really have a preference towards him. But any excuse to get this pic out

Stan Collymore is a good shout. Danny Murphy is usually very good and I like Kevin Kilbane even though his voice is really annoying. John Hartson is pretty good too. Thierry Henry is a good shout.

I normally like Chris Sutton but his comments yesterday were pathetic. Danny Murphy seems alright, Ian Wright and Kevin Kilbane I can cope with. Most of the Sky lot, not a fan of.

On the radio, I mainly prefer journalists who cover European and world football such as Tim Vickery, Andy Brassell and Mark Langdon.

Pat Nevin.

I should have thought of him - that's a great shout. Excellent pundit. Treats the audience as though they are intelligent and is clearly a very bright guy himself.

James Richardson (More of a presenter but is excellent in the way he presents, not wrapped in getting an emotive story)

James Horncastle

Jonathan Northcroft (via Sunday Supplement)

Rafael Hoenigstein

Gary Neville (though the Ranieri situation was a bit annoying)

James Scowcroft is also very good

Martin Samuel (via Sunday Supplement)

On comms I find Andy Hinchcliffe pretty good. Andy Townsend used to get slagged off loads on ITV but as world feed commentator he is very, very good.

Good shouts for Brassell and Vickery. You find that the journalists who aren't wrapped in the "top six bubble" tend to be very good at what they do. Insightful, knowledgeable and don't try and go for a certain angle.

Tim Vickery is very astute and knows a lot about football at many levels. Also Gabrielle Marcotti. Knows his stuff and is impartial.

Danny Murphy, Shearer and Keown are my personal favourites. The latter most won't agree with I don't think.

Not keen on shearer - he undermined Bobby Robson after Robson had reshaped shearers game... I know this should impact on his punditry - but I believe a gentle man is measured by the pundit he holds in esteem,

Guessing you're also a fan of the football weekly podcast and world football phone in lol Richardson is great, nobody comes close to Tim Vickery though, the man is an encyclopedia of South American football knowledge.

Depends what you want from a pundit. Do you want someone who tells you what you want to hear or do you want someone who can teach you something you didn't know,  challenge your assumptions?

I certainly don't get upset when they say something I disagree with. It's only their opinion.
