Tell that to all footballers or any sportsmen and women who have prematurely ended their careers or never could reach their previous levels due to an injury. But... But... But... It's a man's game. Pass me the bucket.
MC Prussian Posted 25 April 2017 Posted 25 April 2017 Floating bone (in his foot) - had surgery in France and is now out until the end of the season. The season couldn't have been any worse for the guy. Feel sorry for him. One false move and it's been one step forward, two steps back ever since.

Been a really tough start to his career here and I do think some have judged him too early and unfairly. He's obviously had this floating bone problem ever since the injury against Arsenal on his debut back in August. Hopefully, the operation can finally sort it and he can have a thorough pre-season under his belt and be given a good 6 months or so to try and prove his worth.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 April 2017 Posted 25 April 2017 Is he rating as one of City's worst signings in recent years, for the money we paid etc?

Nothing beats Musa on that, currently. Mendy hasn't been given enough opportunities unlike Musa, and injuries is the only factor here really. Just glad NDidi has been in-form, especially with Mendy injured and also Drinkwater off the boil in recent weeks.

But if he has been, the player we've seen in a City shirt so far has looked very very average I'm afraid. I'm with you on Musa though. It looks like we got shafted good and proper with him.

If he's injured he can't play, if he can't play he can't show how good he is. I'm sure Seamus Coleman will appreciate your comments, and David Busst had no reason to retire did he

I've seen flashes from Musa that say he could be ok, but that's all it is, flashes. Some players can't string together two good performances, this guy can't string together two good minutes.

I genuinely think (hope I'm not horribly wrong Col) Mendy will come good when properly fit next season time will tell

Redouane Posted 25 April 2017 Posted 25 April 2017 Its too bad. I have friends who are hardcore Nice fans, and they rate Mendy very highly. I hope he'll cet better soon
ealingfox Posted 25 April 2017 Posted 25 April 2017 At least Musa has contributed something to our season. Against Millwall those 2 were the worst players on the pitch but Mendy was the worst by an absolute mile. Shocking signing.
Tuna Posted 25 April 2017 Posted 25 April 2017 I'm not interested in giving either Musa or Mendy a chance. May be harsh but I'd bin them both and buy better quality in the summer.

Shouldn't have played with injury like that. This op will hopefully finally sort it out, and next season we can see what all the Nice fans raved about. If not, we sell in the Jan window
Jattdogg Posted 26 April 2017 Posted 26 April 2017 Currently getting off a charge of robbery for taking a salary and not playing.
HighPeakFox Posted 26 April 2017 Posted 26 April 2017 I guess slagging off and dismissing a player who has been dogged with injury is a pretty good example of victim shaming.
urban.spaceman Posted 26 April 2017 Posted 26 April 2017 Those who are slagging Mendy and Musa off - what were your thoughts on Vardy during his first season? Cos he was rightly getting slagged off on here for most of it. Lucky for him Nige started playing to his strengths the next season. And the next season after that he struggled to adapt until we reverted back to that ethos. Same almost goes for Mahrez too - took him a season to adapt and then look what happened. All I'm saying is stop being harsh - Mendy buggered his ankle an hour into his debut and never fully recovered, and while Musa has been generally poor, he's not really had a solid run in the team yet aside from 7 starts in the league and cameos off the bench. He has shown a few glimpses (Everton, Palace, Barca) of what he's capable of plus he's still young. Give Mendy time to er, mend properly and hopefully he can get back to what we saw in him.

It's absolutely typical of the ridiculous over the top comments about our new signings this season. He gave the ball away two or three times in a short space of time but the rest of the match was absolutely no worse than anyone else on the pitch. I've suffered through that full match twice just to check on him after the ludicrous slating he got in the match thread after a couple of stray passes. In fact, he was actually very tidy with the ball and I seem to remember the stats backing that up as well.

Probably has something to do with the fact the 2 teams you mentioned don't really care about defending. Probably means he gets plenty of chance to run in behind these teams.
st albans fox Posted 26 April 2017 Posted 26 April 2017 When has musa played up top since we changed our way of playing? vards looked fairly poor until claudio left. Maybe best to judge musa once he gets a chance to stretch defences and we are allowed to play to those strengths. Would like to see him in the run in brought on for vards once a game is safe and the team to play the same way. it isnt surprising for players to struggle in their first season in the premier league. We may cash in during the summer or we may give the guy another chance.
lgfualol Posted 26 April 2017 Posted 26 April 2017 Think we should keep hold of him. Don't think he is as useless as some say. The injury has ****ed him, Ranieri wasn't exactly playing to his strengths in the short playing time he did have. We should try playing him in this team now nobody is hiding from the ball and we actually have tactics.
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 April 2017 Posted 26 April 2017 Its been a really weird season. Both Slim and Mendy, I think, weren't plagued too much by injury before they joined us. NOW, they look like a pair of sick notes. Very disappointing that we should spend so much dosh on two players who have played so little football. The question now is do we keep them and hope they return to full fitness, or cut our losses? Slimani at 30 million and God knows what wages is looking like one if the worst buys of the season for any Prem club.
