I'm not a big believer in spending big money on defenders.

If you consider Otamendi, Mangala, Bailly, Mustafi and Stones (Mills:() and have they really been any better than Huth and Morgan, or better than McAuley, Dawson, Evans at WBA??

The ability to concentrate  and being willing and able to work as part of an effective unit feels more important than individual abilities.

We've got some money now but every penny should be wisely spent.

Give me a tough, disciplined, injury-free, 30 year old decent family man for £2-3m all day long please, and maybe save the big spending for the attacking game changers??

he is but despite them having problems with a back three, he still cant get onto the pitch, never mind a start. conte sees him every day in training and doesn't trust him anymore. he will be even older when next season begins.

It was this time last season that people rubbished Keane and said we shouldn't spend £20/25m on him... that now looks a decent price for the bloke.

It's a shit load of cash, but if he steps up and plays well then it doesn't matter.

I don't think it would take that amount to get him though.

they also said we should just pay whatever it takes for Slim Mendy and Musa.

This place is like the sun. Believe the date and time everything written is bollox by most.

Diego Godin, best CB in the world is not leaving Atletico Madrid to join Leicester for £15m and anyone thinking that is a 'cheeky' bid is wrong, it's an insult.

Don't forget that he would be a guaranteed starter at most champions league clubs too! why on earth would he think to come to Leicester regardless of what we would offer Atletico.

Not having a go at anyone but sometimes this forum borders on embarrassing- hope no one from another club reads this thread - we would be a laughing stock !

Odds slashed: Leicester City new favourites to sign Middlesbrough centre-back Ben Gibson

Popular bookmakers SkyBET have installed the Foxes as the new favourites to win the race to sign highly-rated Boro centre-back Ben Gibson in the summer.

The 24-year-old defender has emerged as one of the most highly sought-after players ahead of this summer's transfer window, after impressing at the heart of the Teesside outfit's defence.

The 10-capped England under-21 international has been ever present in the Middlesbrough side this season, appearing in all 35 of their Premier League games, and has showcased his outstanding ability.

Despite Boro's poor campaign on the whole, their defence have earned high praise for their organised, resolute displays, with their record of just 45 goals conceded being bettered by no team from 10th place in the table downwards, and Gibson has been a major contributing factor behind that.

Middlesbrough's Ben Gibson in action

If Middlesbrough do go on to get relegated, however, the 24-year-old will almost certainly leave the Riverside in the summer, and SkyBET have installed Leicester as the new 11/4 favourites to win the race for his signature, ahead of Arsenal at 7/2 and Manchester City at 9/2.

With Robert Huth and Wes Morgan 32 and 33 years of age respectively, the East Midlands outfit will certainly be looking to inject some youth into their back-line, and Gibson would be the ideal acquisition for Craig Shakespeare's men this summer.

Most clubs have 4 CB's. But when we have had the success we've had (bar most of this year when Huth/Morgan were for some reason undroppable) the only chance they'd play is in cup games or with injuries, which has never been the case until Morgan picked up his injury recently. Other clubs pick up more injuries than we do, and clubs around our level will chop and change more often than we do what with poor form for example,

I almost feel Gibson is the type of player who would work here, reminds me of a Pearson type signing.
