Atletico 2nd leg at home

I am dreaming on 3-1 tonight, Vardy with an early first as he has his scoring boots on, then Albrighton before half time, they pull one back before Mahrez to win it late on.  Scenes as you kids like to say!

In their faces from KO

Need an early goal

We don't need an early goal.

We just need to score the first goal of the match and the later it comes the better, as long as it comes that is.

I don't get why some seem to think that we should play 0-0 until the 60-70 minute. Considering it can even be done, with every minute passing by, the pressure will grow on our schoulders and our side's confidence will get smaller. The players will start to be nervous and be prone to make mistakes.

That's greatly underestimating Atletico to think one can break them in the last 20 minutes or so. They have an experience we don't, quality players, it's their game, can play dirty if necessary and held off far more dangerous sides. We're too much of greenhorns at this stage of the competition to engage a war of nerves with them. Not to mention that if we concede a goal in the last 20, the game is definitely over.

We should see them as an italian team from the nineties. We'll need to put pressure on them the whole 90 minutes to get a goal.

Its about staying in the game - we can attack for the first 60 minutes, but it has to be in the back of our minds that our best chance of getting through involves a clean sheet - given that ultimately means we may only need to score one (plus some penalties) to go through.

We won't win the tie in the first 45 minutes, but we can certainly lose it.

Can't underestimate the magnitude of the task tonight. Huth and Slim not available, question marks over the fitness of Morgan, Ndidi & Benny, most of the players knackered from the weekend, dodgy ref.

Good luck lads, give it to em, nothing to lose!

As we don't need to worry about players getting yellow cards, it's most likely going to be high pressing game unlike 1st leg.

I think it's better to start with our usual 11 and tire their DF and MF while trying to get our 1st goal, then bring on Ulloa when it's really needed..

If Vardy or Ndidi get a yellow they miss the semi first leg I believe.

Worst mistake would be entering this game with the "not lose mentality".

I think that playing with some kind of hand brake is not gonna cut it. Firstly because we can't play that way (not comfortable enough with the ball). Second, basing on the players form and the lack of squad depth, our best chances to score are the first 65 minutes. After that the tanks will begin to run empty. Don't even think about eventual ET, most of the players will be dead by then.

No everything must be finished in the regular 90 minutes and I'd say that if we don't have at least one goal in the first 50 minutes, we'll definitely lose the game.

Oh I didn't know that..

Anyways we can't afford to worry about semi final at this point..

He has been a part-timer yet he has the best goal per minute in the squad. Imagine if he was a full timer...

I don't deny it and have never questioned his ability in a general sense. Just his value to us. I doubt I'd have signed him in the first place due to the inevitability of his absence for the ACN but he came back from that and had another frustrating absence. Sad to say it wouldn't fit with my "low tolerance level" one bit.

Agreed. I think we rightly played with the handbrake on in the first leg, as we had to try stay in the tie and we did that.

This is now a one off game and we have to score at least 2 goals to get us through and we will probably need to be at it from minute 1, to achieve that.

We are at our best when being aggressive and direct. We should attack them the way we have all the big teams over the last year or so, having confidence in our back 4 and hard working midfielders to keep them from scoring, whilst our attackers are allowed to bomb forward on quick and aggressive attacks.

We will need our fair share of luck for sure, especially at the back, but we can get the 2 goals if we play our way and not restrict ourselves

This.

Even if it goes south we can't do worse than Arsenal's 10-2 aggregate defeat. Rather go down fighting than back off and get beat anyway.

Edit: Went to see Perth Glory vs Melbourne City over the weekend. PG needed to win by 4 goals to get a home match in the playoffs. Needless to say they didn't get it but came within a whisper 4-1 at one point by throwing the kitchen sink at them. Eventually won 5-4 in a thrilling match.

Thats the sort of spirit I'd like to see, hopefully with a more successful result.

I'm trusting to 1-0 AET and winning on penalties because it's about the only chance I see for us.

What with having had to cope with the eroneous awayday referee and the extra 30 minutes for the last away team to get the advantage of an away goal, I'm quite surprised there's not a rule making us play with  10 men, even having already had Huthy booked and the certainty of his missing tonight's match.

If we get through, it will worth a place in any sports Bible devoted to footballing miracles.

120 minutes with no goal conceded against A.Madrid? They'll play with only 10 men the whole time then.

Where do people get that our players will be able to cope physically 120 minutes in a game of this intensity?

Jesus, they were already dead at the 80th against Palace.

That's just not going to work. By that point the atmosphere will be gone and they'll be able to put many men behind the ball and nullify our main threats. We don't know how to play that way anyway, when we're slow in possession we're careless, and more so when we've not got players steaming forward to give us options. Confidence will drop and we won't be able to get any momentum going. Our defence isn't good enough to withstand loads of pressure anyway, we will eventually concede.

We need to get a goal early and make them shit their pants.

I'd rather us have a go if we're going to lose. Unfortunately we've put ourselves in a very weak position with no away goal.

In all the sports i follow i have always been a fan of perpetual underdogs. In the nba you get this feeling of inevitable defeat for certain games, i have that now. I am always hopefully optimistic but beating them by 2 goals is going to prove to be a herculean task.
