I agree but his stock is lower than it should be right now. He looked a world beater only a year or so ago. Having bought Klaasen and still chasing Sigurdsson - Everton have clearly put a for sale sign on his head. Realistically he isn't getting in any of the teams ahead of Everton his best option's are Southampton/West Ham/Us - mid table teams with eye's up the table.

He was good in martinezs first season (2013-14) but he's been average ever since.

The best option seeing as Sigurdsson isn't coming is Ziyech IMO, outrageous productivity levels.

Whoever takes a gamble on Ziyech will have an absolute gem on there hands. Real start for the future.

Ndidi is class, hopefully Drinky will have a good season as its normally 1 good season then 1 bad for him. Barnes has alot of potential  but don't think we can rely on him regularly as hes still very young. King just isn't really good enough anymore. Mendy we've not seen enough of to judge like you said. And then there is matty James. Would be great if we could get him back to the player he was before injury but not sure if he will ever fulfil his potential after being out for so long. Still pretty young though so he may have a chance

King is happy to be a squad player and there's not many players like him and is probably a dream to work with from a managers point of view. Scored at every level hardly ever let's us down and has been played by ever manager we've had since league one. That's what I call a very good professional.

This is the guy to sign.

Wonder whether we'll try and sign Philipp Wollscheid who's returning to Stoke after Wolfsburg didn't trigger the release clause.

Why did Stoke loan him? Is he any good?

Another CB, when Mahrez is sold I'd prefer to get a young prospect and promote Gray to a first team role. A RB, either as cover or an improvement on Simpson so they can fight for the place. Lose some of the CM deadwood and sign a CAM. Backup keeper if Zeiler leaves.

Ideally, but probably unrealistically:

Smalling, Ziyech/Siggy, Adrien Silva (if we sell Mendy or another CM)

More realistically:

Jakupovic, Evans, Gomez (Atalanta, as a CAM and LW)

Struggling for right backs that aren't just glorified wingers. Our system suits proper defenders.

Gray hasn't been great this season. He came on for the U21s and was shocking. He's quick and skillful but dosent have an end product. Can't see him being good enough to replace Mahrez.

He hasn't been given a sustained run in the team, even when his form deserved it. I didn't see the U21's game, but I've seen enough through his cameos to think he deserves a chance, even if only until the January window. The raw materials are there.

Why do you think Stoke finished 13th? Because they had loaned Wollscheid out?

All I know is he did help a disappointing Wolfsburg avoid relegation.

Besides, I wasn't talking about hiring Wollscheid as a starting centre-back, but given the questions regarding Benalouane's stance, you never know how handy a player like him could come in at some stage during the season.

Smith from Bournemouth would be a perfect right back for us.

Lets see how much we spend if we get all our targets;

Maguire - £13m (+4m add ons)

Gylfi Sigurdsson - £30m

Adrien Silva - £25m

Chris Smalling - £15m

kelechi iheanacho - £20m

Jakupovic - £2m

A new right back  - £??

Total = £105m + new wages

I want to believe, and if we do get even half that list rudders is working miracles, but i'm not getting my hopes up.
