Are we actually in the race? Thought he'd already told us he ain't interested?

If by 'in the race' you mean 'last option' then yes...

So we spend 30m and 18m on untested PL players last year, but people bulk paying 40m for a proven PL match winner!

Even for 40m it's a no brainier for me.

TBH I consider £40m relatively 'cheap' in this crazy transfer market.

Like others have said people were happy about us spending £15 - £30m on unproven, not tested players in the Premier League some of who have turned out to be flops but aren't happy spending solid money on tried and tested. Madness.

If Slimani is a £30m player (There are also many, many other examples I could use but thought i'd use one close to home), Sigurdsson is £50m+, thus me claiming £40m as 'cheap', keep that quiet though, pay £40m. ;)

Personally I'd blow Everton out the water, no fucking about, go in with the asking price, maybe even pay slightly over the odds, he might still not come, might not have any interest in coming, but let's atleast have a proper go.

As I keep saying, why we didn't try last season is criminal, very confident we'd have lured him here last year. Missed opportunities.

Not according to @themightyfin - he categorically states we are not in for him....

Neither him or myself are looking for bragging rights, and we will no doubt have different sources whihc may conflict a little.

I did say Everton were in pole position, but we have sounded the possibility out

He's right, we have been talking but he's not interested and Swansea don't want to sell. He's keen on Everton as Moksy says.

I think we both agree as it stands he won't be a Leicester player.

I'm in Wales now, tell me where he lives and il bring him back.

Swansea. I was there yesterday as I said in an earlier post. Couldn't find him though. Looked in the Mumbles, the market and Debenham's in the Kingsway.

Did you check on Worm's Head?

So what's the plan B?

Well surely we can't play Ihenacheo, Vardy and Siggurdsson and none of them would be happy on the bench.  I would imagine Siggy would be first choice but if we can't get him then Ihenacheo would be a very close second.

Gylfi will be that "one that got away".

And it'll kill me seeing him play for whichever club he joins (probably Everton) because I know he could have been monumental for us.  He'd have a bigger impact here than at Everton, but maybe that's why he's more likely to go there than come here.

I'd argue possibly not, Siggy is at his best in possession based sides....although Everton are not Barcelona they're certainly a more "footballing" outfit than ourselves....I don't think he is the type of player to chase wages either...I'd love him here, but looking at it from a footballing perspective, Everton would be the better move...unless we have a Shakey up in our style of play!

I'd agree - if i was him I'd probably choose Everton too.

What I mean by bigger impact is that he'd improve the overall quality of our squad more than he would Everton's. Which, if we're honest, is probably another reason not to choose us.

Absolutely agree with you...he would...we had our chance last season and blew it, the fact we were largely below average last season will have a bigger impact than most people think....
