Can see this one going to the last few days of the window.

Swansea have a high price which nobody wants to meet, and if the player forces it in the closing weeks there's potentially a few million quid to be saved.

Wait. So SkyBet lists three contenders for Gylfi: Everton, Tottenham, and LC. But Tottenham is signing Adrien Silva. Everton is apparently signing Rooney and looks to have too many MF. Does this mean we are going to be the new top odds on sky bet??? Happy day!

But seriously, we should pay the 40 and get this guy in ASAP. Gylfi, we love you. Come home.

Comparing our window so far with Evertons and saying that Everton are showing ambition and we are not really makes no sense to me. Pickford is a promising young goalkeeper but he has yet to really prove himself and they paid way too much for him . Klaasen comes from the Dutch League and the Prem is a different beast and I think he will take at least a season to adjust and maybe he cannot make the jump, we've seen many players come to the Prem from the Dutch League and sink like a stone in the Prem. Signing Rooney is pretty much the antithesis of ambition to me. They still have the problem of Barkley to deal with and then they are losing Lukaku. Sandro has potential but again it's unlikely he will get anywhere near filling the gap Lukaku leaves.

We have signed Maguire and that is a solid purchase with a year of bedding into the Prem behind him and huge upside. Iborra is just the type of player we need, someone with experience who can sit in front of defense and free up Ndidi and Danny to push further forward. It seems to me that Shaky is going to have the personnel to go 3-5-2 To give us more flexibility when we need it. The plan B that we have been calling for. If we sign Iheanacho and Gibson I think we will be in great shape for the coming season. I would not object to Clucas either , the guy is young and would be a better player surrounded by the players we have. If Kasper goes we are showing signs that we are willing to spend serious money replacing him. From my perspective we are moving in the right direction and in two weeks we might be in a great position. I still think we should go for Ziyech( I called for us to sign him this time last year) as he has all the attributes of a LCFC player, huge heart and engine.

Everton being heavily linked with Rooney now? Surely they aren't going to sign Sigurdsson.

Looks like it is more than reported.  With Rooney going to Everton, there is no place for Gylfi.  So us and Spurs.  He would be a guaranteed starter here not there.

I read the situation as Everton want Sigurdsson but it was based on selling Barkley to fund the deal.  The only problem with the plan is that they've had no enquiries for Barkley.

Not so much to fund the deal as make space for the player, I'd suggest.

Or WHAM or West Brom or Palace.

In my most non-biast opinion we are better than bit West Brom and Palace. On about the same level as West Ham if not a little better, but they have the more attractive stadium etc

More attractive stadium??? Yeah if you're Usain Bolt! The London Stadium is an awful arena for football, completely devoid of character and atmosphere! The only thing it has going for it in regards to being an attraction for players is that it's in London.

If it's between us and West Ham, then we've got a chance. The only thing that separates us is the fact they're in London and we're not.

I like your that you're so positive - but to play devils advocate you can level the exact same criticisms at our signings that you've levelled at Everton's.

Maguire - Really unproven after half a season of football, seeing as he didn't play until Silva came in. Paid a lot for him though you could argue it was the market rate.

Iborra - Unproven in this league, might not have what it takes to play at the speed required as we seemed to see with Inler.

Can't see him going back to Spurs - he's been burnt before by going there. Makes me think a Club of our size with our ambitions is a logical next step for him.

Saying that, it wouldn't surprise me if he stays at Swansea.

120 grand a week here and he will stay at Swansea I don't buy that.

They'll offer him £100,000 a week to stay

This is like that scene in Swingers where Favreau makes and breaks a relationship over several phone calls. Its 62 pages now and I seriously can't be buggered anymore. Next please.

You must be a newcomer.

IMO we should put an offer on the table for this guy rather have him than deeney.

I'm sure the club would also, but there comes a point where £40m and £120k a week over 4 years (£65m total) perhaps isn't feasible, but £20m and £70k a week (£35m total) is. Neither will have much resale value come the end of the contract.

Either or for me ...   but we'll get neither.

He's a top premier league player, we should be doing everything in our power to get him here.

We should buy him, but don't forget Rudkin should be working harder to get him here and I can't see that happening, Rudkin is poor and doesn't seem to care imo

Depends how ambitious we are.  For me  he should be our number 1 target and we have potentially 40mn on the way for Mahrez.

We can afford it but it looks more likely that he doesn't want to come.
