Would you have been happy to have seen us linked with them, let alone sign any of them? I think the difference is, we finished 12th almost 20 points off Everton. What improves us, doesn't necessarily improve them to push past where they currently are, which I presume is the whole idea of their signings.

The point is Everton fans saying they are going to break into the top 6 yet the players they've signed are not good enough to do that.

They probably said Leicester signing a 6m midfielder from Caen wouldn't stop us going down (and by probably I mean, that's exactly what was said.) Come on. We're better than that. We've no idea how effective Sandro and Klaasen are really going to be there. They could be toss, sure, they could also take Everton to new heights. Plus, they might not be finished yet. I think they lack some real quality at the back, they bring in another CB with some real caliber to play with Keane and who knows?

Acquiring targets and looking to sign them. They might never become one of the 'big boys' of Prem football, but at least they are looking to improve. They have some good players there now. 27 minutes ago, Col city fan said: Anyone calling Everton's signings 'average players', let me ask you this? They are football fans like any of us and probably hoping more than they are believing!? What the club is doing is giving them half a chance to break into the top 6..so the fans are excited by it..big deal...

The question is whether Sigurdsson wants to come to us or whether he wants a bigger club and Everton although they have won very little may be more attractive unless we can demonstrate our ambition. Constant links which turn out to be blind alleys can become depressing. I am hopeful that the club is more focused in the background and will come in with concrete offers over the next few days as there rarely seem to be last minute bargains. The question is though, if Everton get most of these players there hotly linked with, theres gonna be a helluva lot of competition for places. He would surely be the star turn should he decide join us. That may not be the case at Everton. Its not even nailed on that Barkley will leave.
Great Boos Up Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 Out of curiosity, and before Gylfi's name crops up again in January; how many windows have we been interested in him. By "we" I mean all on FT.
dannythefox Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 And people were having a go at me a few weeks ago when I said Everton are and will have a very decent team next season. Nice to see a club showing ambition!

Nice to see a club showing ambition! They will be ok, but how much difference will it make? Unless they make top four it's pretty much all for nothing. The second Lukaku goes they have a massive hole to fill up there and almost half a new team to put together.

I can imagine people saying the same about us and Mahrez..........I can imagine how exited Everton fans are.......I only wish I could be exited by our activity in the transfer market

I remember people being excited last summer after we signed a load of players.

Its perception I suppose, alot of the media etc still rate him. We didn't sign loads last pre season plus most were unknown. Everton are being linked with some very good players, Keane, Gray, Milfy, Rooney, etc etc. No way was our pre season as exiting as there's.

I haven't really watched Keane much but I assume he vastly improved from the useless bastard who played for us (a la Kane) and Pickford looked well dodgy in that U21 tournament. Still, they are identifying players who they want and paying the money to get them. As usual, we aren't even putting bids in for the players we want and are likely to get our 3rd choices. I get that transfers are complicated but that doesn't stop you getting the ball rolling by putting a decent bid in. Let's at least show some presence in the market, that in itself might entice players to join us.

Sandro could be brilliant but even if he scores 20 he doesn't look capable of playing the role Lukaku does. £90m at this point seems a lot but Lukaku will be going for an amount that comes close to that.
KFS Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 Don't know why we're bothering. His brother, Syvlev Gudjevsson is much better anyway.
Max Power Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Everton being heavily linked with Rooney now? Surely they aren't going to sign Sigurdsson.
Finnegan Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Just now, Max Power said: Everton being heavily linked with Rooney now? Surely they aren't going to sign Sigurdsson. I don't see them signing Rooney, Klaasen and Sigurdsson personally. To be honest, I don't see them signing Klaasen and Sigurdsson anyway. They're very similar. Either they were probably never that bothered by Gylfi or they did what we did which is almost certainly sound out his interest, realise he was indifferent unless he got fat stacks, hear that Swansea want 40m+ and gave up.
breadandcheese Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 I read the situation as Everton want Sigurdsson but it was based on selling Barkley to fund the deal. The only problem with the plan is that they've had no enquiries for Barkley.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 I think he would compliment our team very well but looks like we aren't going to his etc oh well.
Smiffy Fox Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Movement on sky bet, from 13/1 into 6/1. Everton still favourites.

EnglishOxide Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Can see this one going to the last few days of the window. Swansea have a high price which nobody wants to meet, and if the player forces it in the closing weeks there's potentially a few million quid to be saved.
