They've also now got one of the wealthiest owners in the game.

I don't think they'll be splashing the cash that much anyway when it comes to net spend. You don't hire Steve Walsh if all you're going to do is pump big money on names. When all is said and done, I doubt their net spend will be that much different to our own.

Macia was the sole reason we signed Wilf.

Apparently he has an outstanding wealth of knowledge and contacts all over the globe.

Don't think the issue has ever been identifying targets. The problem is getting them over the line. Thats where we fuch up most of the time. If this Rudkins remit then it's time he was outer here.

That's not true as we were tracking Wilf for a minimum of 18 months.

Yeah you're right I'm making it up...

Or just badly informed.

As I've posted half a dozen times now, there are plenty of articles out there that discuss our long standing interest in him that stretches back at least 18 months, probably further now.

The articles talked time frames, how we were in on the ground level with wilf as we were the first club to show any interest in him, the length of time we looked into him etc.

In all honesty if Everton are interested in him, which is being reported, I can't see him going  anywhere else but Everton. A club in Europe with a manager who has a track record of bringing up young talent, it's a no brainer unfortunately.

Everton got £132m in prize money last season and we got £112m and £66m (£178m total). So last season we only banked £46m more than them in prize money.

The season before we made £93m and Everton made £83m from TV money.

So we've only made £56m in prize money more than Everton over the last two seasons. I'm pretty sure they are going to bank more than that on Lukaku alone.

Understood.

Nevertheless I would have hoped for a little more progress.

Another decent signing and things may look brighter, and Maguire I'm happy enough with.

I am however at present feeling a little pessimistic based on the action so far.

A lot of managers have talked about how hard it's getting to sign players. With the improved scouting technology available and the fact all premier league teams can go out and buy £20 / £30m players with ease, we're all chasing the same players.

It can be hard enough to complete a transfer with just one club and one player. Throw in half a dozen clubs all chucking different offers on the table, then it can drag on. You can think you've got a player lined up, put in weeks or months of work and he goes elsewhere, you end up starting the process all over again.

We've shown we're capable of doing things quickly with Wilf and Maguire, you just need things to fall your way.

People need to get out of Football Manager and into the real world with transfer, do we honestly think that our owners aren't splashing the cash? We're targeting highly sought out players who i'd assume we're willing to spend a lot of money on but we don't want to get into a bidding war with, especially when you look at the wider picture for a player and there family.

However painful it is to accept, clubs based in London will have an advantage to a lot of players, the lifestyle and ability to do more is a massive thing for people. We may have won the league, but frankly it was a freak exception, when we're going up against clubs like Everton who have shown steady improvement whilst also consistently finishing in the top half of the league we are always going to struggle, then you add they'll be in Europe which is a plus point.

We really need to trust our owners and club in that they've identified targets who we can afford (and we will pay for) who want to come here because they want to play here..

I hope Iheanacho knows what he wants and knows we're the right club for him rather then spunkin money at something just to sign players just to keep shouting about how we can compete with the big boys.

With the assumption that the player has informed us he'd be interested I'd hope...

Anderson Perry's at the steering wheel, we got this.

Stan said we had agreed a deal a week ago

is this new info fin ?

First bid in today as far as I know. Problem being the buy back they want put in the deal is only just above the asking price. Effectively making it a loan if he comes good and they want him back. Gonna be complicated I fear.

Given the fact that our stadium bankrupted us 15 years ago while West Ham get given a free £700m stadium at the cost of the taxpayer sure they should have some sort of budget cap? I'm thinking 150 quid. Financial Fair Play innit.

Pretty sure Stan said the bid had been accepted, not that a deal had been agreed.

Is there a difference as far as the two clubs are concerned ??

Well isn't there a difference between a bid being accepted by a club and the player agreeing the deal (+terms) to come here?
