davieG Posted 1 June 2017 Posted 1 June 2017 Leicester City and West Ham are vying for the signature of Lazio centre-back Wesley Hoedt, according to reports in Italy. Il Messaggero claim the two Premier League clubs have asked Lazio if they are willing to sell the 23-year-old Dutch international, who started in the Netherlands' 2-1 friendly win over Morocco on Wednesday. Lazio are unlikely to want to sell Hoedt after his fine season for the Roman club, where he scored two goals in 21 Serie A starts. But they would be guaranteed to make a profit on the defender they snapped up for free when he left AZ Alkmaar two years ago. Hoedt has two years left on the contract he signed when he joined Lazio and could be chasing a new deal or a pay increase to his current terms.
Fox 4 Life Posted 1 June 2017 Posted 1 June 2017 Weren't we linked in January and nothing happened? Could just be paper talk based on that but he looks a good defender.
AKCJ Posted 1 June 2017 Posted 1 June 2017 Were we linked before or am I making that up? He's a decent player but I'd prefer either Maguire or Gibson.

MattyFromLE Posted 1 June 2017 Posted 1 June 2017 Hope the interest is genuine, although I fear this could just be re-hashed from January.
MPH Posted 1 June 2017 Posted 1 June 2017 Could just be his agent throwing a few names around for that nice new deal he's after...

They never pass it further than 5 yards It's from when they both thought they were Pirlo and we had no midfield, I remember Morgan smashing the ball out of play many a time when attempting a long ball last season. Unsure about defenders from Italy adapting immediately, but he's about 10 years younger than our other CBs and Lazio are decent.

lcfcfoz Posted 1 June 2017 Posted 1 June 2017 hoedt and ake could be a good pairing, futute, both dutch, go for weltman from ajax too
Riot Van Posted 1 June 2017 Posted 1 June 2017 Watched a bit of Serie A last season. Think I saw Lazio like 3 times and he looked very solid in those games.

And seeing as his passing accuracy is high, he looks like a good signing. Experienced but with age on his side. To be fair I know nothing about him personally.

Suit Mahrez more crying out for someone to pick a 30 yard pass so Mahrez could Get 1 vs 1 with his man.

Hopefully Gray can take his opportunity. We do need competition in that area now though with Mahrez going.
Richard Posted 1 June 2017 Posted 1 June 2017 wasn't everybody excited by Hernandez's passing stats last year though?

No one should be getting excited about a central defenders passing stats. Blocks, tackles, aerial duels and interceptions are surely the ones to look out for.
