ONE POST.

it took one post about a club LEGEND for people to start bashing him. Four posts in and 50% of the posts are bashing him.

a club LEGEND. He's won it all. He's played his part in a lot of that. He's not Conrad FVCKING LOGAN.

Exactly this. Yes he isn't good enough anymore to command a place in the first team, I accept that. But this man is a club legend. He's been there with the rest of us on cold Tuesday nights in league 1. He's helped us become champions of England. He's a decent, well rounded and hard working professional who in my opinion has never let the club down.

Regadless of his ability now, he will always be an LCFC legend for me.

For a more accurate sample you need to wait a few pages to be fair!

King for me is a strange one. Rarely do you see player regress in their so called "peak age" but King has. He was once a "budding goal scoring midfielder" now he's a "backup midfielder"

I think our progression as a club over the last few years has kind of made it a bit of a weird situation with King. He's a steady player that can be called upon to do a job from time to time, but he's never going to be a long term solution.

Saying all of that, it's hard to put a price on continuity and having a player who's got knowledge of the past.

He isn't somebody who's an all time club legend but he certainly should be respected and celebrated.

His been a back up player for 3 years, and his only 28. Now we have more midfielders he will be lucky to start 10 games that will be 50 starts in 4 years what should've been his prime

in all seriousness, he's an absolute legend of the club. Loyalty is such a hard thing to come by in football these days and to have someone stick with you through the lowest of the lows and see him be rewarded with the highest of the highs is what you want to see as a football fan. To me, it doesn't matter if he's not that good any more - he's deserved his place at the club and there is a place for sentimentality when you see what King's been through and what it's culminated in to for a club like us.

Still only 28, has been around since the beginning of time so you cant knock the bloke!

He can be relied upon when required and has never threw his toys out the pram.

Future manager?

Unbelievable isn't it.

Think King was more effective when played in a more advanced role. Used to be great when he ghosted into the box.

He's scored 61 goals for City ... not far off Vardy ... but well over half of those goals were before he was 22.

Successive managements have played him in a too withdrawn role.

Wymeswold was being ironic, hence the emojis.

Seems obvious to me.

Anyway yes he should have a testimonial, who was the last one - Walsh ?

A legend plays every game. A legend is indispensable.

King is a hero, not a legend.

Has this loyalty ever been tested though?

wasn't he touted for a move to Everton a few times? Can't remember when but maybe when we got promoted from the Championship or the season before that?

There's  no universally agreed definition of a football legend so that's just your opinion.

Players don't  traditionally get testimonials for being a legend anyway so it's not really relevant to the OPs question.

Of course, everything is opinion on a forum.

No he wasn't. His statement was a sarcastic dig. The actual content of his post was an attempt to be ironic (on the basis Andy King would miss his own testimonial)

Yep. That was very firm. He didn't want to leave. Liverpool and Villa (when they were decent) both pursued him around that time too
