dynamark Posted 30 July 2017 Posted 30 July 2017 I have to admit to watching this tonight. Its better than it used to be but no shots on target for either team in 45 minutes . A number of freekicks into the box for us but sticking to the exact same back post routine. The girls look strong physically but tactically poor. I'm trying to think who it rerminds me of
Grantham Fox Posted 30 July 2017 Posted 30 July 2017 Hoping The Lionesses can carry on with the trend of The Young Lions this summer and win it.
Super_horns Posted 30 July 2017 Posted 30 July 2017 They are pretty good at keeping things tight and nicking a goal or two (did the same in the last World Cup) Very organised against a strong French side.
Tuna Posted 30 July 2017 Posted 30 July 2017 Shades of Huth v Stoke with that free kick there for France.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 30 July 2017 Posted 30 July 2017 Girls did well... but always concerned when a team appears to over celebrate in the earlier rounds of a knock-out. Yes, be pleased with the victory, but there's more work to be done.

dynamark Posted 30 July 2017 Author Posted 30 July 2017 Its Brexit . Better second half and our lass knows where the net is thanks goodness.I just get the feeling that the English ladies are just physically knocking over the opposition.

Stinkenzo Posted 30 July 2017 Posted 30 July 2017 Just waiting for the inevitable "just goes to show how far a bit of passion can get you, take note men" comments

Super_horns Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 Or they aren't "overpaid, over-rated prima donnas" which happens when a non-footballer wins something and they get compared to one.
Bert Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 If they'd have lost last night they've have been brave heroines who we should be proud of. Unlike the men who would be branded failures.

A side that is better than their opposition won and were happy about it. The same would happen if the mens team won a big game like that. Not sure why everyone is so quick to chuck dirt at the mens team. As Bert says, had they lost last night they would have been brave.

Nick Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 Have to acknowledge the improved quality of some of the football too.
kingcarr21 Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 Its great that last night men AND women reached Semis.
fazzyfox Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 They seem capable of carrying out most instructions and tactics, the only one they'd struggle with would be if they took an early lead and then were asked to park the bus. They'd leave so many gaps it would end up 1-10 or more.
