I think people are in a bit it denial here. He is clearly off, been training for a while but nowhere near the match squad, clearly had is head turned and waiting for the club's to agree a fee.

Who's in denial? Practically everybody has accepted he's leaving regardless of the fake screenshot

How can you be so certain? Granted, I'm still in denial and know it, but has there really been anything concrete yet?

Correct.

And lest we forget, Mahrez has figures from open play in the PL of 4 goals and 4 assists from the last 40 odd games.

He has looked better in the last two games in that he seems to have found the ability to beat his man once again.

However, two or three great opportunities to lay on a chance for a team mate were squandered  once again on Sunday.

He's not been 'delivering the goods' for a long time.

Man, give it a rest. You find a way to slate him even on a Drinkwater thread.

Well it was alleged in this thread that Mahrez was 'a level 1' player,

while Vardy was 'level 2' and a player we could do without!

I'm only stating the facts.

If he is going it's likely because it's his last chance to make the World Cup. He had the season of his life with us and won the title but was passed over for Wilshere. Whilst you would think he might not get much game time, just playing for Chelsea will help his chances, even though Vardy and Maguire get in playing for us.

I hope he stays because as the song goes, Leicester loves him more than he will know. Immense player for us and part of the legends.

He won't play that much if he goes though. At least not in the league unless Bakayoko is injured. He's been targeted as squad player. I thought only the regulars with good perormances would make it to your national starting XI?

A fair assessment on James will be established at end of October when the opposition have tailed off and we will have more of the ball. A lot of our fans are writing him off far too early.

James not good enough against any opposition so far.

Because Drinkwater has a chance to better himself by playing in the Champions League and battling for the title.

Coutinho is already playing Champions League and will be playing for trophies.

There's a genuine career progression for the player. It's harder to tell a player and recover his form in those circumstances.

Leicester to Chelsea is a decent careee progression but then so is Liverpool to Barcelona.

the problem we have before is DD will go from playing every week for a mid average team, to playing as a squad player for a top 4 team.

however coutinho will go from playing every week in s top 6 team to playing every week in one of the best teams in the world.

coutinho's career progression here is the only one that makes sense in my mind

Depends on who you play for unfortunately Wilshere regularly got into the England squad ahead of Drinkwater even though most of the time he was injured.

The guy has precised it was his opinion and I personally doesn't agree with it. I  think that Vardy is a "Level 1" and the whole team set-up is built around him. Same goes for Maguire. Albrighton would be a Level 2 at least. Drinks a Level 1 on form and a 4 on the current one.

As for Mahrez, who're you kidding? Facts? You never recognize any positive contribution from him and are constantly going for his neck. He's done pretty well since the beginning of the pre-season, for whatever reason. Against ManU he was the main attacking threat and one of the best players on the pitch alongside Kasper and Maguire. Even if he could have given the ball on two opportunities.

Gimme a break.

I remember that and couldn't believe my eyes. But then again it was Roy Hodgson, the guy with no plan and who put Kane on the corners and free kicks. Southgate can't be that bad, can he?

Time will tell.

Doesnt work like that in England. You have more chance of being picked if you're a sub/reserve for a top team than if you play regularly at a smaller team. Look at how Wilshere got picked ahead of Drinky for euro 2016. Wilshere had barely kicked a ball that season

Drinkwater what will have the belief he is a capable of playing for Chelsea. Like any footballer should. He's 27, peak of his career and this is his chance to make it with a 'big' team.

Torn by this.

On one hand I did think at the end of last season that a position we could really improve in is the Drinkwater role, but on the other it's very late in the window and it's a huge risk to sell such an important cog in our machine at this stage.

We are a side that lacks creativity at times, yet it's quite possible that we could lose two further creative forces in Drinkwater and Mahrez in the coming days, without replacing them.

Based on? His stats across the past three games have been very comparable with our midfield last season.

Chelsea are closing in on a £75m double deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Drinkwater. (Source: Daily Express)

Sky are reporting that Chelsea are in for Barkley. Cant see them signing both Barkley and DD. Nothing at all on sky about Chelsea and DD. And footy whispers are normally pretty accurate and DD is only 3.6 on there at the mo.

I hate all this transfer speculation....... I'll be glad when the transfer window closes and we can just focus on the matches and know who is part of our club.

btw...If Drinky goes I'll miss his nephew conducting the kop when we win PL again ;)

As I said he's been better in the last two games. Some of his spark ⚡️ is back - maybe as it's his last chance to shine to get the move he wants.

The facts you question are his PL goals and assists, which I'm sure you don't need me to repeat!

I'm a big fan of DD and not convinced we should sell him so close to the window but all this talk about him being our creative outlet is quite a stretch. He can play balls over the top to Vardy, sure but I would hardly call that "creative"

I agree but I think that he will see it as a last chance to make it with the national team. If he does go to Chelsea and can get into the first team alongside Kante then he'd have a chance.

Why?  Completely different positions.

We all agree that his last season was crap by his standards. But that was last season, we moved on and you should too.

One thing that does concern me, applies to DD and Riyad too.

IF there has been an approach by Chelsea and IF discussions have taken place, how will it affect the mentality of the player(s), if the move doesn't happen !

I might have rose tinted spectacles on here, but it does seem that DD and RM are affectionately tied to the club, even if they do have personal ambitions of playing at the highest level they can. Given the promotion, great escape and title they both experienced and comments both have made over time, I think and hope they'd still be committed.
