N'didi maybe good, James steady...(Mendy and Iborra unknown).

I'm clutching at straws here, but Mendy is ripping up the league in my latest FM17, so we should be fine :D

(And I'm not at all worried about losing one of our two players that can actually create something on a football pitch)

Knowing our recruitment dept, they have probably know he's going for weeks, and not even bothered to get a deal done for a replacement, before allowing the deal to be done.

Lose mahrez as well and no replacements in, I will be concerned.

Or they have been trying to get a replacement hence this very likely deal (from the outset) has delayed.

Probably but I don't think he is capable of getting us a last minute replacement, step forward Papy Mendy

Really gutted about this. Danny was fantastic for us early last season and then played when he was clearly injured to help us out after that. A huge part of our greatest ever squad, both on and off the pitch.

But shakes prefers the " reliable" Andy king!!!!

I have no idea what's happening here, save that FT is in meltdown.

We are not a selling club, DD is under contract, he's integral to the way we play, and any old Tom Dick or Harry who can play PL football costs £20m.

Why would we sell him? A - at all, B for less than say £50m? Why?

Hope so, drinkwater for me is easier to replace than mahrez, we may already have a replacement in Iborra, but looking at him, he will a decent cover, injuries, will he settle into English football.

Replacing mahrez attacking threat concerns me more than this one, like I said, decent replacement, good business.

Not sure why Chelsea would post of photo on their front page of a player in a Leicester shirt.

I have been critical of the clubs business but they will have been working overtime to make decent signings this summer. They fighting for their jobs.

History tells us sometimes Turkeys are pulled from his hat.   3 days to go and Molle will be announced.

Because there is a leadership vacuum .... no one to tell our players we expect them to honour their contracts and get back to making our club a top six side

Still seems we are a selling club....as 65% of this league are.

65%? Who are the 35%. Chelsea sold Matic for a shocking fee in this window, Arsenal will lose Sanchez and Liverpool Coutinho.

Drinkwater wants out, get a decent fee. Simple.

Every club in the world is a selling club, even Barca can now lose their bet players.

The point is we don't have to sell, but realistically when a player wants to go it's about getting the best fee possible and just making sure your recruitment is right to replace them.

If we're going to replace him with Krychowiak and play two destroyers in midfield we need to move Mahrez central and play Gray.

Posted

Well if I was sure this would be a bad move for us 2 weeks ago, I'm even more convinced of it now.

Our central midfield looks extremely lightweight without him and the bench options are, to put it midly, abysmal.

The Man Utd game highlighted how much we need someone to a) win the ball and b) put their foot on it and play. Whilst Drinkwater is no Kante, he's capable of putting his foot in and throwing his weight around more than the likes of James and Ndidi, and more importantly, has it in him to impose himself on the game with his use of the ball.

We all know what Drinkwater's capable of but crucially in the short term we are looking very short in that area and will be forced to play 3 in the middle. With no Drinkwater that leaves us with Ndidi, Iborra if he's good enough and then 1 other from a selection of average players. None of the other options really fulfill a role effectively enough at this level nor do they have the class of Drinkwater.

He is simply one of our better players and we are regerssing if we sell him unless we bring in at least one quality central midfielder ASAP.

Unfortunately we can't be trusted to do this at the moment. Over the last 18 months we've brought in so many pointless players that haven't improved the starting 11 or the squad.

With just days left of the transfer window it would appear extremely unlikely that we will be able to replace Drinkwater effectively so selling him at this point is not really an option.

Absolutely. In a nutshell.

On what planet does DD throw is weight around more than N'didi.... I must have imagined all those stats about him and tackles made last season.

DD is good at that side of it, but isn't better than N'didi's. His passing is better, but again what he creates with it is lacking. We mostly just use the CM's to get the ball wide rather than creating anything themselves.

We've been much better since last Jan, that's for sure. I'm a bit more confident they are capable now than I was.
