Allowing Mahrez to remain on the field whilst playing that badly? Gray should have been on for him a long time before the end. Taking a midfielder off for Nacho, having taken a striker off for Amartey? Just makes no ****ing sense. He made us shut up shop, and yet again it failed. We do not have the quality to absorb pressure indefinitely. In our case, attack is definitely the best form of defence. The buck stops with CS. I think he took a midfielder off for Nacho cos he realised his mistake of trying to shut up shop. We briefly looked threatening again, but it was too late then. As for Mahrez... did he have a bad game? He got an assist and put Vardy in on goal and he tracked back, he played okay. I'm not going to worry too much, we did okay against a team who will possibly beat teams like Man U, Man City and Liverpool at home, maybe by more goals.
foxes67 Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Defending was shocking in parts, still need to replace Morgan it pains me to say. Dont think much wrong with subs 3-2 up away from home tried to defend it. Mahrez for me again tried to take on to many players and lost ball a lot. Plenty of positives also though Vardy sharp, keeper another blinder of a game some top draw saves. Matty James massive plus and some of those crosses from albrighton...quality. Its just the start..Hard defeat to take still. keep the faith

But hopefully he will learn from this experience. Felt we gained some control of the game though. They were just pumping stupid long range shots. James going off opened more room in the midfield.
FoxTrott Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Hah, management game is one of those "you're damned if you do" etc. jobs. I personally thought Iheanacho would been the best first sub we could have made. One thing that we really need to change is the attitude of defending a thin lead. It doesn't work unless you have luck with you. Hopefully it will put a few potential suitors off Mahrez at least!

Most of the 'stop being so negative get behind the lads' threads are just created to get likes. ...but you took the time to type almost 30 words and interact in the thread and add nothing to it. Where's the logic in that?

Joefox Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 We did alright. Arsenal roasted us for long periods. draw would have been fair. Should be a more comfortable season than last. i like realistic fans the best

ozvaldo Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Only the small-minded bin heads will moan about Shakey. They always need someone to blame. Im fully behind Shakey and the performance he got out of our players away at Arsenal. It's never been a great place to go to.

Your comment just came off a bit righteous and it's always been like this on here; people love to vent. yeah I'm with you. I really do think Craig is the man though....

coolhandfox Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 People overact after a good win or a loss, who cares it's one game. However I see no upwards curve on the some basic element to be a better side. For me their is a lack of development as a side, we have spent over 100 million in three transfers Windows and still can't keep the ball. If we could, more than likely we would have won. I see little or no progress in key areas, ball retention, game management, defending set peices. Its not like CR or CS haven't been backed.

He should have taken Vardy off then put Iheanacho up top on his own then an extra player in midfield would have helped. In my opinion he got the substitutes the wrong way round.
Pst Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Played well. Shame about the result. More promising than early last season tbh..

'Shakey out' would be more understandable if we were bottom after 7 or 8 games. Relax people. mmm........ bold statement given 'what might happen'.
Stevosevic Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 The goals we conceded had nothing to do with the subs
Guest Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 We almost won away at arsenal. It's not like we lost to forest.
Tielemans63 Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 I think people are disappointed because THAT substitution (a defender on for an attacker) when you're under pressure almost always has the opposite effect to that intended. We were doing so well and that just allowed the onslaught to intensify. Must have seen this happen hundreds of times in the time I've supported City!

Keep pressuring them and they can't throw everything at you, which they did with great success.
crisp packet Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Will we ever be 100 behind the club ? Bored of people just moaning... For the sake of moaning back the team ffs...

You are embarrassing some of the "so called" fans on here, especially in the post match thread who are abusing Shaky.... YOU should resign from FT. Yes we lost but to blame Craig is not on. he made substitutions that he felt fit at the time because he knows more than all of us on here put together. I actually saw genius in his tactics, but this time didn't pay off. His tactics were excellent in the main but we made a big mistake not using king to help retain possession in a struggling central midfield. It only invited more sustained pressure.

Tonight was solid enough and almost yielded a famous result. I'd understand the arsenal fans tv like reaction had we lost 5-1 but we played as well tonight away against a bigger side than we have done for quite a while. Sickening to lose it but we can put it right next weekend.

Bringing Amerty on not only brings nothing to the table, but takes Vardy out of the game completely and tells the whole team to stop thinking about attacking. More pissed off about that sub than Ozil's handball
