yorkie1999 Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Got to be ben gibson, if he doesn't go to man city. He's not going to be playing in the championship.
lgfualol Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 RB with a good cross please. CB similar to Maguire also and we could do good things.

cc_star Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 To be the best we can be we need another 1st team CB & RB If any of our crown jewels is poached, they will need replacing too But I'm very happy with our squad
Fox 4 Life Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Another CB that can play the ball out of defence would be ideal. Maguire has shown in a few weeks exactly how it can change the way we play, less hoof ball! I love Simpson but some competition who can get forward would be great
Ted Maul Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Another top CB would be perfect, but I wouldn't mind us just signing a good young RB to integrate over the season, then just have Amartey as a CB option- I think he'd do well there alongside Maguire.
StriderHiryu Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 The squad is the best it's been in years. If defensive reinforcements are true that's great news. Morgan and Huth are legends and will play a big part, but there is also argument to getting players in now so we can bed them in over time. It's better to have multiple options and slowly phase out the LCFC bouncers instead of ending up in a situation where we have to rely on a brand new defender to cut it straight away. We are lucky that Maguire has slotted in so seamlessly. More creativity in midfield would be nice, but with the way we have started it is not as concerning as it once was.
Realist Guy In The Room Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Maguire really is like having an extra player. Very much like a Kante type centre back in that the extra dimension to his game, ups the whole team dynamic 20-30%. If we can get another CB as comfortable on the ball thing really will start to get exciting.
Guest Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 We desperately need a starting quality RB and CB. If we get those I think top 6 is the target.
lanefox Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Will people please stop saying we need a cam or number 10, we dont play with a cam and we have 2 number 10's shinji and kelechi!!! Only positions that need strengthening is rb and cb and then possibly a cm if drinky goes

Instantly Simpson becomes a better player.

I must say the comparison with Kante might yet prove very astute, it's like he's clicked us right into gear.

I don't get this clamour for creativity. I understand why fans want it but look at our team over the last few seasons and we have done alright without a major creative force (Cambiasso aside which was only a success when we changed our style). We play well to our strengths, have started the season well enough, dallied with being more possession based last season which was a disaster. We have a team identity and ethos of hard work and fast, counter attacking football so what anyone thinks a more creative player in the middle will add isn't obvious to me, if anything it will detract from what is at our core as a side. Happy to be enlightened though.

Mahrez suffers from not having anyone near him capable of backing him up. Simpson just isn't good enough to give that support, if there is another option it takes a man off Mahrez and frees him some space.
TrentFox Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 So hard to know what we need due to all the rumours swirling around concerning who my yet leave. Assuming nobody needs replacing, RB would not be my priority. Sorry to bucknrhw trend. Simpson is first choice and perfectly adequate for our game. Amartey is an adequate short term replacement - and yes I know anytime can bet injured long-term, but we aren't able to stockpile like City or Chelsea. To be honest, LB concerns me more as I just don't think Chilwell is anywhere near strong enough right now. For me, CB and CM are more pressing positions. James isn't yet anywhere near the level we need. He might get there. He might not. Stalling and a CM and I'd be very, very impressed with our business.
foxes21 Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Ideally we need a RB, CB and another winger Imo. If we only get 2 though I hope its a RB and CB.

Happy to be enlightened though. Agreed. We don't need any more 'creative' players. Sure these are the ones people like to watch and get excited about signing but we can be effective without one. We're all about pace and power going forward and besides we've always got Mahrez/Gray if we do need a bit of magic from time to time. Against both Brighton and Sheff Utd it felt like we controlled the game quite comfortably and had the potential to explode into action pretty much whenever we needed to. There's a real professional feel about the squad this year. Obviously it would be great if we could get someone with pace, power AND creativity but how many players like that are there outside of the world elites like CR7? Please nobody say Wilfred Zaha... I'd love us to sign a really attack minded RB. I mean like a super offensive type too not just someone who occasionally gets forward. Thinking of a Victor Moses type (not him but you know). I think it would be so much fun if we could play someone like that and Chilwell in our home games and then revert to Simpson and Fuchs when we go away or maybe when the really big boys come to the KP.

You can see the drop down in things like Aerial challenges won each season as they got older and less mobile. They still have a huge part to play, but I would feel far more comfortable with another quality CB who can step in that isn't Benny. Maguire on the ball has also shown up the right hand side of our defence in how they deal with the ball. He's added another dimension to the team, but it still falls down when it gets shifted to the right. Are you being serious? 15 months ago they were instrumental in winning the league. Admittedly last season they couldn't repeat their form - much like the rest of the team
