Best player description I've ever read

Didnt they all also spend some time at Birmingham and Charlton during their development..?

Even funnier is that fact that neither Birmingham or Charlton even bothered to sign him...!!   :)

So, not good enough for Birmingham or Charlton then.........but still good enough for a FOUR year deal at Leicester????

I believe last yth player we signed from Chelsea on a multi-year deal (19 y/o Faik Bolkiah in 2016) doesnt even make the bench for our U23s so perhaps Chelsea are slightly better judges of players than we are...?

Good job we've got loads of money these days as some people seem determined to waste it on their "fishing with dynamite" experiment at Yth level!

Hmmmmm Lukaku? Man u Pogba? Oh Kante? And i dont remember many clubs after Mahrez Vardy and Drinky when we were in for them.

Not all kids develope at the same rate. Thankfully not everyone sees the same potential in players.

Kasper is another one Leeds could not get rid of quick enough. I bet a few clubs wish now they had put in for him.

If a player can balance the ball on his head and run the length of the pitch, surely it's impossible to actually win the ball off him without fouling him. Ultimate player.

I was referring to Chelsea's Yth development structure and their judgement of Yth players (Chalobah???) and not their first team or did you miss my point on Faik Bolkiah?  Walsh was not involved in Yth recruitment at lcfc

I find it rather concerning the way people keep relating BACK to our hugely successful recruitment period under Steve Walsh (Vardy, Mahrez, Kante, Fuchs, Albrighton, Drinky Schmeichel etc.....all still first team regulars!) every time the current tansfer activity we are seeing without Walsh is questioned.

In 5 years time i'd rather be talking about a new crop of signings that we made after Steve Walsh that helped sustain our momentum rather than 'banging-out' the same old argument every time people question progress.

Unless of course you think that the stellar signings of Bolkiah and Musa's Dad that we are 'stealing' from under Chelsea's nose are a clear sign of positive progress?

Presumably as part of the same U17 squad as Ndidi and Nacho in 2013, he would have taken the same MRI test as them (the one Ndidi failed) and passed it. He claimed to be 14 then, but at most he would have been 17 in 2013 therefore 21 now which is still fine.

Yeah, loads of u17 Nigerians failed their MRIs, resulting in Nigeria's failure to qualify for the u17 world cup in India.

It's unclear if Habib failed that, or even took it.

The last match the u17s played was around October 2016, a 3 - 1 loss against Niger trying to qualify for the u17 world  cup. Would he have been part of it? If he played in that you can be reasonably sure he passed the MRI.

Still, if it's known loads of Nigerian youth failed their MRIs, surely one of Man City, Birmingham and us would have done the MRI?

He was an unused sub in the U17 World Cup which Nigeria won, apparently - so if he made the bench he would have passed the MRI.

I think the MRI test stops working reliably after players reach a certain age, presumably its based on fusion of growth plates. So we can't just do one now.

Don't think it's routinely done anywhere as part of a club medical, anyway - just in these tournaments.

Sorry i think you missed my point. What i was saying has nothing to do with Walsh. What had Walsh had to do with Lukaku and Pogba. Two players huge clubs let go.

My point is all clubs make mistakes with players. Sorry if my use of Leicester players led you to believe I was on a Walsh crusade I'm not it was used to point out other clubs missed what we seen.

As a kid nobody wanted Kevin Keegan and he ended up at Scunthorpe how many clubs missed that one.

The last time he played for the u17s was 2013 when he was 14 according to ESPN http://www.espnfc.us/player/194678/habib-makanjuola

The MRI scan scandal was in 2016 though. I'm unsure if they did them in 2013/2014.

It looks suspect. I'll see how he does on the pitch. The siging is a cheeky punt anyway.

Article about Ndidi failing the MRI in 2013 and getting kicked out of the 2013 World Cup squad.

This was the same 2013 World Cup that Nigeria won where Nacho got best player and this Habib guy was a sub.

So it seems his age is legit and Nacho is a older than his birth cert suggests. Seems fine to me.

Habib Makanjuola (born 19 April 1999) is a Nigerian footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder without a club.

Youth Career

Signed a professional contract with Chelsea of England at the age of 13 and was described as  Xavi, Iniesta, Lionel Messi, C.Ronaldo and Fabregas all rolled in one.

Spent sometime at Birmingham City and Charlton.

Had a trial with Leicester City in July 2017.

International

Makanjuola was taken to the U17’s World Cup in 2013 aged 14 and was an unused substitute as Nigeria won the competition.

Sounds like we found a gem

I assume his age is of those all combined.

Interesting.

This other BBC article does seem to suggest that too http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/23760844

The squad, which finished as runners-up at the 2013 African Under-17 Championship in Morocco, underwent MRI scans in Abuja to help determine their ages ahead of the upcoming World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

As he was part of the squad, you'd assume he was scanned and passed.

As much as balancing a ball on your bellend while getting dressed is good will it win us premier league games. To juggle a ball don't mean he has a football brain.

Wouldn't read too much into Bolkiah, he's related to the Sultan of Brunei. I'd hazard a guess it's more about currying favour than football.

Sometimes these transfers are about something else. You scratch my back, I'll scratch your. You take x Nigerian, y Nigerian you really want under the same agent might become more likely.

Bet you couldn't get the ball off him.

Good. Because we need more wingers. *cautiously looks at the closing of the transfer window...*

Jokes about age aside, wouldn't out sports science bods be able to tell his rouge age? Or am I living in the future?

There is a test you can do involving scanning wrists, if I remember correctly. Something I read a while back.
