fuchsntf Posted 31 August 2017 Posted 31 August 2017 With both players putting in their transfer requests, at the moment it seems all of those agents sown seeds have fallen on stoney ground. How good have they been has business soulmates. What was behind c DDs late request..?? No one biting for POY from that unique season. Whos lost the plot, agents or medias or both??
Sir Shep Posted 31 August 2017 Posted 31 August 2017 Agents were happy for them to sign those lucrative contracts, now it seems no one wants to pay the price we want and they can't do shit about it.
Legend_in_blue Posted 31 August 2017 Posted 31 August 2017 Agents don't come across as being particularly bright individuals. Especially with so much money being thrown about. That's all they care about though I suppose.

Manwell Pablo Posted 31 August 2017 Posted 31 August 2017 Pretty simple really and it's not really a lot to do with agents. Both fancied a pay rise a nice shiney signing on fee and to play at a club that challenges for trophies on a regular basis, mahrez believed the fact that clubs thought he was unavailable was one of the reasons behind the lack of interest in him so publicly declared an intention to leave, Danny couldn't get his transfer request in quick enough the first time Chelsea hinted they might be interested. Clearly no ones even got close enough that meeting our valuation on either and probably aren't keen on matching their wages either.....maybe they are not quite as above us as they think they are if both do indeeed remain here. Credt mahrez bar his rather embarrassing trip to Charles de Gaul today he's remained professional dignified and has got on with it, jury's out on drinkwater. At the end of the day unless we accept a bid agents involvement is minimal.

They have every right to change their career directions, request moves. My posts have Supported them on that basis, u nlike some who believe city and the fans deserve some loyalty, which goes against A profi footballers expectations. Both like you have mentioned have tried to be professional and dignified in their services and career to this club. BUT I was just trying to weigh up the Agents competence in both players attempt to move, more so with DDrinkwaters late request. And the length of time Mahrezs agent has needed, to try and get a top clubs serious Interest. Rather strange and uncanny in todays world that No real request has been put on the table....A big failure on the Agents side for both players, even if something does crop Up in the Last minute..2 titlecwinners and no concrete offers..!!!
Jimbo Posted 31 August 2017 Posted 31 August 2017 A football agent is the personification of greed. They never have the players best interests at heart. They're at the top end of the marketing trade. They pimp around players 'help' them move on in their careers and pocket millions along the way.
mozartfox Posted 31 August 2017 Posted 31 August 2017 A bunch of muppets. Have not covered themselves in glory with the handling of these sagas'.
Matt Posted 31 August 2017 Posted 31 August 2017 They've (the players) been poorly advised that's all i'm saying on the situations.
Webbo Posted 31 August 2017 Posted 31 August 2017 It's an agent's job to get their clients as much money as possible, that's all they're trying to do. Players aren't forced to use them.
katieakita Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 Mahrez needs to really think about his agent his expertise in securing a move is about on a par with that hairdresser telling that style suited Dennis Wise
foxile5 Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 There's so much money on the game that it is of no surprise there are vampires around to milk what they can. Imagine teachers or doctors having agents. Or bar staff. Or any other job. They've created a niche for themselves which they exploit for millions. Personification of greed.
Guest the fox Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 Drinky's agent did his job and got him his big move without making him a laughing stock, as far as i'm concerned, he did his job.
Sublime_Coatsworth Posted 3 September 2017 Posted 3 September 2017 Bottom line is, there are good agents and bad agents. Mahrez's agent falls into the latter group. Advising him to announce his need to leave, along with the somewhat desperate 'euro-tour' he went on backfired and also make him look like a plonker. A decent agent would've said to him, 'mate you need to up your game if you're going to get the dream move you want'. It was frankly dumb for either of them to think he was going to get a big move in the back of a poor season. Drinkwaters agent seemed better. Both he and Chelsea were keen for the move, but the whole deal needed a bit of fresh impetus - which the transfer request provided. Bit of a shame he needed to do it, but I don't blame the guy as is probably the last time something like that will come his way.

Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 3 September 2017 Posted 3 September 2017 Difference is Drinky did it when there was genuine interest. Mahrez's agent did it on the basis of speculation. Mahrez's agent needs the payout to make the contract he signed with them work hence the desperation.

Thus the agent is working in his own interest and not in the interest of his client. Mahrez needs to ditch them for someone more reputable.

Jury's still out on that until we see how much actual playing time he gets and whether he gets back into the England squad. Of course it could be that all Drinkwater is interested in is the pay rise and sod the football. In that case I guess his agent has helped him.
