Fox92 Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 Haven't seen Iborra or Silva (whenever he gets his chance) so can't judge but our midfield is weak. No creativity at all.
Dawko Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 Ndidi tends to lose control of his legs occasionally.

Even against Sheffield United he was dire Needs dropping, badly! Until Iborra is fit, that would be mental. A James - King/Amartey midfield wouldnt cut it in the championship.
st albans fox Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 Wilf did well today in a two against NG and bakayoko - cut him some slack !! not sure how Iborra will do when he gets his chance - I expect he will play his first competitive game v Liverpool in the cup
Guest MattP Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 I'd go Iborra Silva if possible. Don't get the obsession with Ndidi, not even that good. Potential though.

So you would go with two players who have never played in the PL over a twenty year old who has held our midfield together since he arrived ???
funkyrobot Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 Ndidi, James and Iborra as a 3 man option. 2 of those three as a 2 man depending on form. Kingy as back up with Amartey. Obviously will change if/when Silva signs officially.
matty98 Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 I think our problem is we have so many strikers we have to play 2 upfront or we'd have some very unhappy players. When we have 2 upfront we can only have 2 CM's and we just don't have the players for a 2 man midfield.

We could try 3-4-3 or even 3-5-2 we have options and we need to try and be a bit more adaptable. If fairness to Shakey he did try and mix it up in the second half today. We just didn't have the midfield options to really be effective.

SecretPro Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 20 year old centre mid literally propping us up in the middle and ensuring we are not relegation fodder. People honestly wanting to drop N'didi with the midfield options we have? Take your faces for a shit.

How can a title winning side only a season or so ago, then come up with this midfield? You're right. We have a 20 yr old kid propping us up because he's our most talented midfielder. How did it come to this?

JimmyB Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 Have I seriously just read that there are People here that want Ndidi out of the starting lineup? ? I like James but Wilf must've got through 10 times the work he did today. Can barely remember another player making a tackle / interception.
red5 Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 I thought this was a joke thread, why has it gone serious?
HKFox Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 Keep playing James and Ndidi, let them work together, this is only the 4th game they have played together, and James has been out with a serious injury, which before that he was a better player than Drinkwater (benchwarmer). Our central midfield has not been a problem really. Yes we lack creativity from this area, but we did last season with drinky there too, and only reason it worked year before we had Kante and the ball over the top, that was it. Now teams defend deep and ball over top doesn't work. James and Ndidi are good players and will get better. Sort the balance out around them and we will be fine.

Strokes Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 He has been poor in the first three games but he was showing signs of improvement against Chelsea. He needs to stop the sloppy balls though, it's really dragging his game down. Amartey would get dogs abuse if he had Ndidis distribution.
HankMarvin Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 maguire in midfield when huths back, can ping a pass and looks comfortable on the ball when going forwards with it

Why is it an over-reaction when we COULD compete with them more than adequately just a couple of seasons ago? To compare our midfield now with that one is to compare a Merc with an Ford Fiesta. Yours is the type of post that you read all too often during poor seasons. A stubborn and complete refusal to discuss the glaringly obvious.
foxfanazer Posted 10 September 2017 Posted 10 September 2017 Yep anyone wanting Ndidi dropped can get in the bin

Kante ran the show yesterday and Drinkwater warmed their bench.
fox_favourite Posted 10 September 2017 Posted 10 September 2017 Why are people slating N'didi?! He was one of our best players yesterday. He broke up attacks, he made some important challenges and was up against 3 in midfield! If it wasn't for him it could have been a lot worse. He was dead on his feet towards the end. A few defeats and people turn on players too quickly. Last season he was our saviour, now he should be on the bench. I do agree that James and King are struggling and maybe out there depth a bit but we haven't got any other options at the moment. Silva was the answer but there's nothing Shakey can do about that. I think there's a Pearson comment that rings true with some people.. delusion of grandeur. We could go back to the days of Steven Hughes being our best midfielder again.
