That Slimani shot

It was more "that Mahrez decision not to pass to Vardy in space' than "that Slimani shot".

Slimani worked hard but he had nothing like the threat, presence or impact on the game that Vardy did.

On form and impact, Okazaki should be above him in the pecking order, and (although it's difficult to tell) you would think Nacho is ahead of him, too.

Slimani is a better player than Okazaki, he hasn't been given the game time, if given the game time Okazaki has had he'd have a greater impact I think however I don't think he'll get it as iheanacho should get that place, slim and shiniji will share the impact sub role

It's not just that one shot though is it ?

He's had numerous chances come to his feet in the time he's been with us and the vast majority he fails to convert.

I'm sorry but he doesn't look up to it.

Let's give Slim, Grey and  Chilwell game time. Not going to happen. This is the Premier League you can't afford to carry anyone.

I have heard people say he is really slow too, yet he got up with play in a break away featuring vardy and mahrez. He isn't worth 30 million. Though to be fair Drinkwater isn't worth 35. Prices are crazy.

Difference being the market wasn't so outrageous last summer (Still crazy but not as bad.)

Drinkwater isn't worth £35m in a normal market but in this market i'd say £35m is about right, Slimani isn't worth £30m even in this market.

Not his fault but who says i'm blaming him for that? I'm not, he was a panic buy we should have left well alone. Just another case of why we need to get rid/upgrade the powers that be who deal with our transfers.

Feel Mahrez is worthy of the critisim considering he failed to make the right pass

Almost as though he wanted to sort his 'mate' out instead of slipping Vards through

Can't see how Slim is at fault there, it was a good save!

If Slimani is worth £30M then I'll get my old boots out at the age of 67!! Should have scored, no ifs no buts no maybes.

No offers for Mahrez, we'll never get any for Slimani.

There are teams out there that could make better use of him and they know it. Just because he doesn't fit the way we play doesn't mean he won't be an asset elsewhere. Though might struggle to get £30m...

Am I deluded or are we really praising a moderate height dink as a good shot? I know I've got previous for not rating the guy but if any of our players attempted that I feel we have the right to be annoyed. It should have been low and hard at goal or smashed at the target, not trying to dink it over a very good keeper. Well done to him for winning the ball on the edge of the area, I've always said I'd like to see him do more defensive work and he robbed Kante in a Kante'esque style.

slimani could have chipped Courtois but he didn't.

mahrez could have put a ball over the top to vardy he didn't

although to be fair wouldn't the defender expect the ball to go to vardy I think the slimani pass was clever but very hard to finish.

we can be annoyed but we can't call for slimani's head yet

it's a crap finish simples, 30m and you at a minimum want a striker with the nouse not to chip it against courtois, even if he had beaten courtois the defender of line likely could have cleared it - was a stupid finish

He had a good shot saved.

Mahrez should never have passed him the ball we had a 2 on 1 break with Vardy, the fastest forward in the universe ahead of him. Chelsea or Manchester players would have rolled the ball ahead of Vardy behind the last defender and we'd have been 1 up.

You can see Slim gets the ball on target with his shot across the front of the keeper, does everything right whilst running at pace, if he gets the opportunities he will score, I'm just not sure if he compliments Vardy though

Where I sit in SK2 there are a fair few Slimani haters and people who love a knee-jerk reaction.

There wasn't one person giving Slimani pelters, I think everyone could see he'd done brilliantly to rob Kante and then charge upfield with Mahrez and Vardy. When he received the ball, he's done what you ask, get your shot on target, it's a good save from a top keeper. It's not Slimani's fault we then conceded a minute later.

No blame on Slimani for me. I don't know what others think but I think we played him today because we identified Chelsea's possible vulnerability out wide, but we didn't manage to get past their midfield brick wall in order to feed him. I thought there was however many times when diagonal high balls from fairly high up the pitch could have been played up by wingers and full backs to him but, possibly due to not playing a big man for so long we didn't try. We needed to rough up their 3 defenders that seem to play with pipe and slippers!

Slimani was the problem, he had a decent first half, he hit the target and the keeper made a decent save, if it was Vardy it wouldn't have been such an issue for every one.

Didn't get the halftime substitutions, as I said Slimani was doing ok, Albrighton was working hard.

The midfield wasn't great, but King hadn't had a positive impact coming on against Arsenal or Man U. Strange one again for me!

I can't be the only one wondering what people are talking about with "he should have passed to Vardy".

The pass to Vardy was not there, even for a tenth of a second. From the moment Mahrez picks up the ball Azpilicueta's positioning is perfect - it forces Mahrez to carry it forward. Slimani's support run is perfectly timed, the weight of the pass is good from Mahrez and the shot from Slimani (it's not a "dink" is it - he connects with it well) is going in the far corner. Courtois' positioning, body shape and reactions are spot on.

A chipped pass over Azpilicueta would likely have skipped away from Vardy, a through ball would have had to have been absolutely inch perfect to even give him a chance of reaching it before Azpi (who is quick) or Courtois.

Chelsea defended a really difficult situation perfectly, full marks to Azpilicueta and Courtois.

I'm far more pissed off by the amazing amount of time given to Kante to be able to pick his spot in the corner of the net and to roll his daisy cutter into it. Kasper should have saved it, no doubt, but the amount of time Kante had was criminal.

pathetic keeping, but its Slim that gets the stick

I don't think Mahrez or Slimani done too much wrong.

Mahrez was waiting for the Chelsea player to commit himself before passing and it never happened and by the time Mahrez had the ball 20 yards out Vardy was offside. However Mahrez did create a good chance for Slimani so Mahrez can be absolved of any blame as he done his job.

Slimani hit the target and it was a good save. He probably scores that more than 50% of the time but that chance was far from a gimme. No striker in the world scores that over 90% of the time. I can't criticise Slimani as he hasn't done too much wrong there.

This is a common thing with us. Players can find themselves in acres of space even in our own box. I swear we never get that amount of space in a shooting position.

Good God.

I've never been a big fan of Slim. I think his touch is poor and I think the money could have been better spent elsewhere. I say this with the benefit of hindsight though as I'd seen very little of him before he became our player.

However, the poor bloke is never going to get much cut from around half our fanbase by the looks of it. The criticism of this particular effort in yesterdays match just seems harsh in the extreme to me. We've all seen strikers miss sitters, which he did last season with that header. They don't mean to miss them, it just happens but I think the criticism of his miss yesterday seems way over the top to me and I said as much in the match thread.

In this day and age you can't tell me he isn't aware of the amount of criticism he receives from his own fans and that can't help as he comes across (outwardly anyway) as quite a volatile character.

He's ours, we have to back him as much as possible as I don't see him leaving anytime soon unless we take a huge loss on him. That being said, I'd much prefer Kelechi to have a run of games if he's fully fit and Slim to always be an option from the bench.

I'm not perfect, I've criticised our players in the heat of the moment but the seemingly systematic criticism of Slimani achieves 4/5th's of feckall in my opinion.

He's played well whenever he's been involved this season. He did everything right, forced a good save from the keeper.
