I'll sing it, because at the minute I'm happy for any songs to go around, but Vichai had a dream is an absolute shocker.

Doesn't even make sense.

"Play from the back" when we didn't even do that.

First side I recall using that tune was Bournemouth (for Howe) and since then clubs have nicked it (ironically the same fanbases that probably call Bournemouth "tinpot").

Think "[x] had a dream..." is a Rangers one initially, though obviously Sloop John B's been done to death for years now in various guises.

That's the thing, we especially didn't play out from the back the season when we won the title when we had a centre-back pairing of Morgan and Huth. And does "we play from the back" not somewhat contradict "we counter attack"?

I would much prefer if Vichai had an original song, but the one positive thing I can say about the tune is that at least it's not to 'Allez, Allez, Allez'.

It is possible to be over-dedicated in one's support of a football team, and it can be bad for the mental health.

You are probably correct but the tribalism of football supporters is a very complex thing. I'm nearly 50 years in now and I can't let go and every result still affects me.

You can, but it is a long process unravelling the complexity. The change often happens elsewhere in life, that's been the case for me.

It's a relief in many ways, the ups aren't so great now, but the downs I can just put to one side, which is especially important on here when some people really suffer, and I need not be drawn in. Paradoxically it means I feel kinder towards those that kick every figurative ball, I know how it feels to be deep in that.

I think that a singular obsession or dedication to one thing, no matter what it is, might be detrimental to one's mental health.

You've successfully extrapolated what I was thinking, it was just simpler to relate it to football due to the main thrust of the forum and my recent progression.

Aha, but just imagine what amazing thing will be dreamt up by a superfan. A clapper that doesn’t make its annoying noise? A “booooo” inverter? Pie and pint delivery to the seat?

Unpopular with me, anyway. Mind you, it usually seems that it's only me and the BAFTA panel that have ever seen it. Most people I meet don't seem to watch anything other than Netflix now for some reason

That's a really good point. Or they veer off in some bizarre tangential direction. Newton became obsessively preoccupied with alchemy.

Didn't he also discover the apple?

I want to punch his face in just watching the adverts for it. I can't even bring myself to watch it.

His sister is mental too. I'm sure she'd be ok in short doses but I'd end up wanting to murder her too probably.

Weird family.

I'd happily kill for her

Isn't that what dyslexic Yorkshiremen wear on their heads?

Bobby Fischer always struck me as a good example.

Has there ever been a worse “treat” than the toffee apple?

Hiding something that you can only enjoy once you’re over 40 or dull inside something that is crack for beginners is just wrong. It’s as bad as putting razor blades inside cake.

Oi, I'm over 40 and don't enjoy an apple.

I'm also quite dull inside
