This body positivity nonesense has gotten to the point of ridiculousness.

Telling the morbidly obese they're beautiful and stunning is not only a shameless lie but also dangerous to society. Its not beautiful and courageous. Its morbidly obese. It's dangerous.

There's a fine nuance that often gets lost on both sides.  If someone's obese it's ultimately their life and it's no stranger's business to tell them how to live, people shouldn't receive online abuse because of their appearance.  On the other hand the types who pretend it's perfectly healthy and that there's a global medical conspiracy to shame overweight people, or the ones who think people are bigoted for not being attracted to their overweight selves can do one.

I said the same when someone said roast dinners are shit. If you think all curry is shit, it's because you've never had a decent one, and they don't have to be hot! Plus the variety of curry is so vast, it's a bit like saying you don't like any biscuits just because you don't like rich tea.

I like curry but I hate when people say things like that. You don't know what they have and haven't eaten. Why can't it be that someone just doesn't like something?

I also know someone who likes curry but hates rice. So he always has chips with his for his carbs.

That's why we have naan bread.

I find naan too thick and dense. I'm already eating a lots of rice and poppadoms. More thick and unnecessary carbs aren't required.

You say it's no strangers but it's certainly a doctor's business to tell them how to live if they're clogging up the NHS with their diabetes, cancer and heart disease

I agree that let people be and make their own choices but when the shit hits the fan these people deserve a dressing down

Sweet potato chips are naff and are certainly not worth paying more money for.

Well yeah, I would expect a doctor to provide sound medical advice and whatnot, and it certainly behoves society in general to encourage healthy lifestyles over glorifying unhealthy ones, but as a random person bearing witness to an obese individual you can't pass judgement on their weight in much the same way that you can't judge a person who parks in a disabled spot and walks out of their car.

The curry in Australia, is no where near the standard you get back in Leicester. I love a good curry and when I do travel back it’s the first thing I do. Over here, I’m yet to have a great curry - I’ve tried more than a few places and have found a couple of okay places, but nothing compares to the stuff you get back in Leicester.

Nothing to do with curry, apart from Edwina maybe.

Don’t vote, they are all playing us.

The Boris bus, expenses scandal, Hancock, paid for holidays and flat decoration.

There is a new one every week, it’s wholly corrupt.

And you know what, we tootle along to a booth and put an X in a box and actually give one side our blessing.

We actually argue one side against the other, it’s like backing one school bully against the other.

We are stupid to vote, we go along with this crap and get treated poorly.

Don’t vote and they will finally realise we need change, or draw a cock and balls on the voting paper.

That is my unpopular opinion - boom

I have no problem with people not voting. In fact, it actually bothers me when people get on their high horse telling you that you must vote because "people died for your right to vote". No, people died for you to have an equal opportunity and that includes having the right to abstain from voting if you feel that there are no viable options or if you are completely disillusioned with the system.

It's actually become more of an "event" (ugh) than it used to be when I was young. It's not the solemn two-day commemoration it once was.

My unpopular opinion is that I feel like not wearing a poppy these days because of what it's become.

Decision confirmed. I've read the creator's story but still, in what world is selling 'Pull the Pin' rum appropriate for a charity dedicated to the remembrance of people blown to pieces by grenades?

Merry Griefmas - it's got a bit absurd. Have they started selling poppy-scented lube and jazz mags littered with poppy covered saucy minxes?

it does seem to have got a little bit out of hand these days. A bit of fetishisation of the poppy and organisations (including football clubs) having a pissing contest to see who can "do" Remembrance the best.

No harm in having a minute's silence and the Last Post at a game on (or very close to) the 11th, but our closest game this year was in October FFS!

I will of course, and always have, observed the silence on the 11th and on the Sunday too, and I stick some money in the poppy tin if I see one (haven't actually seen any collectors this year).

The irony is that this crap is the absolute antithesis of what Remembrance Sunday is supposed to be. I'd go so far as to say the mock war scenes are disgraceful and suspect a WW veteran would not be impressed by them at all.

This is the problem. The fewer people left around who actually remember what it's actually like to live through a war and lose loved ones in that conflict who they knew and cared about, the more people forget what this is meant to commemorate.

Exactly.

The whole idea behind such remembrance movements comes down to two words.

Never Again.

I've not worn a poppy for a couple of years now to be honest. The whole way things have gone with the poppy have driven me away. The frenzied expectation that anyone on TV must wear one, poppies on nearly every lamp post. Companies emblazoning the poppy on their brand (through cynical means or fear of being called out I don't know.)

I see recently the British Legion were being cancelled by right-wing social media a few days ago for advertising for an Equalities and Diversity Manager on £55,000 a year salary.

just my personal opinion but a crappy plastic poppy cable tied to every lampost in the town centre just looks a bit shit anyway

And you're right, I think the media crazed expectation that everyone should wear one at all times for two weeks before makes me more reluctant to pin one to my jacket

The unfathomable popularisation of Ukeleles which are vastly overrated. Massively irritating instruments which seem to increasingly be deployed on the soundtracks of asinine banking and utilities TV advertising.
