Fireworks should be restricted from public sale and limited to official, licensed sites and displays only.

Think that's probably a popular opinion!

I don’t think many 90‘s sitcoms have, in fairness.

Agree.

Look at The Simpson's, as a great example; if many episodes were released today, there'd be mass complaints over how politically incorrect and how unmoral they are etc.

True, but then some comedies much older than that have aged much better IMO.

You'd think so, but apparently not enough to see it become law.

Yeah I never bawled laughing at Friends but I gave it a watch in my mid 20s and was more drawn in by how the relationships between the characters developed than it being purely comedy driven. It’s an enjoyable enough show with a likeable cast and it all felt very well done - even if you don’t think it’s funny I think it’s very difficult to objectively label it bad.

Vaping should be allowed in enclosed spaces such as airports/trains even if there are specific areas for it.

I have no idea why vapours are chastised, restricted and bracketed in the same way smokers are

Vaping may not be odourless, but it doesn’t stick to other people clothes like fags do.

Vaping has taken over smoking in the UK, with far less health risks, yet we’re still forced to hide in airport toilets having a quick chuff

Cue the ‘if you can’t go without nicotine for 5 hours’ comments.  Well I can’t, and I shouldn’t have to either, when vaping is as harmless as it is

Does that really matter?

Was it not funny at the time? (Yes it was and still is)

Is OFAH not funny because there are mentions of ‘paki’?

Clearly not to many people, no. (To answer both questions.)

It is, of course, a matter of opinion.

Are there genuinely much much lesser health risks both actively and passively when it comes to vaping? Honestly not sure on that one as I haven't read enough to be certain.

My doctor told me that there’s no way it can be as bad as smoking (used to be on 20 a day myself)

Obviously I don’t know about the effects of passive vaping either.

But the point is, if you’ve got a dedicated space for vaping then when there’s no fire risk to hide under (as per smokers) then surely just give us a space to vape in peace?

Personally I don't see an issue with specific areas inside for vaping if it can be proven it poses no passive threat, that just seems reasonable.

Even if there was a passive threat then heard us all into one vaping room

Theres no fire risk with it being indoors, unlike smoking, where in hindsight you can see how dangerous it potentially was from a fire hazard alone

There is too much football played. You don’t really get a build up to games where excitement can build as its so frequent.

Commercialised to hell in the upper leagues, and TV companies then spreading games out across every day of the week.

Whilst I don't object to having games to watch, it's almost become background TV majority of the time, it's not an occasion as much? Sky are always selling a "super Sunday" or some crap derby no one cares about. It's become too available and, as you say, has taken the real edge off at times

Blackadder, Monty Python and Only Fools and Horses from the British POV.

Cheers and The Golden Girls from the US one.

But again, this is all rather subjective.

Fair enough. I think that Holy Grail and Life of Brian, if only those two, have stood the test of time very well.

Monty Python was basically zany, so on reflection I think it’s aged fine. It was never everyone’s cup of tea back then, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea now but it’s still funny for those who like that sort of thing. I find it very hit and miss (Life of Brian being the biggest hit) but then it always was so.

Sticking with John Cleese, Fawlty Towers would be an interesting discussion. Funnily enough it feels like it works now as a snapshot of the seventies, although the racial humour wouldn’t be done that way these days. But as always, the point remains that you’re laughing at the less sympathetic of the characters rather than with them. It’s a cruel comedy in that way, but built up well enough to show how they deserve it.

Wouldn't it be better to see them struggle in the lower leagues for years than see them not exist?

Ooooo now that’s a good option too. Can I take that and then watch them fold after years of pain and hurt. I’m evil

I think a phenomenal number have:

The Day Today

Brass Eye

Father Ted

Knowing Me, Knowing You

I'm Alan Partridge

League of Gentlemen

Spaced

Bottom

The Detectives

Drop the Dead Donkey

And an honourable mention for Keeping Up Appearances, The Fast Show and One Foot In The Grave.

Id go so far as to say it was a golden era in TV comedy that has not been matched since.

Fawlty Towers was and is still funny and among the greatest comedies of all time.

The episode of The Detectives where they had to name the endings of every club in the football league is forever etched in my memory.

Most of the above are just lists of comedies and not sitcoms. Whilst Father Ted, Fawlty Towers etc. were brilliant they're a completely different genre to Friends which did a fantastic job of blending comedy and some of the bleaker aspects of life together.
