Pissed off we've won? Have a ****ing word. You’re happy with that?
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 Ian Wright as usual, best pundit and says it as it is.
Izzy Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 I remember when we didn’t qualify for USA ‘94 and it ruined the summer watching the WC without us in it. I’m over the moon we’ve qualified and there are many other nations who would give their right but to swap places with us. We obviously won’t win it but at least we’re there and taking part. Shame it’s in Russia though - shite choice. And who do the Southgate haters want as England boss instead?

purpleronnie Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 Well done England. I just hope we don't embarrass ourselves like we did in the Euro's.

International football is pretty much entirely results based tbf - you're 17-19 games from starting a qualifying campaign to winning the tournament; if the pl was the same length we'd already be a third of the way through and barely feels like the seasons started.

Izzy Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 Even if we do embarrass ourselves and get knocked out in the group stages, I’d still stick with Southgate. We’ve fvcked about with England managers for years now and never got it right. Give him 5 years and the chance to build something with a young team. And even if it all goes tits up, we’ll be no worse off than we are now...
Wymsey Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 Do the English get on well with the Russians in general? Just hope we avoid them in the group stage..
Ric Flair Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 There's just no light at the end of the tunnel with England. I genuinely cannot remember a stretch of games where performances have been good, even against very poor opposition in several years. The squads are gradually getting weaker but it's no excuse for not being able to play positive and heartfelt football like many smaller nations do. We we are so defensive under Southgate, 2 holding midfielders regardless of who we play is alarming. I'm dreading the World Cup, there's just no enjoyment in our nations football anymore. We were ridiculed for under achieving in the late 90's and throughout the 00's but Christ, we were half decent then just without the ruthless instinct in the knockout stages, now we barely get out the groups and haven't had a player score more than 1 goal in a tournament since 2006 ??????

USA was genuinely my favourite ever World Cup. The Irish beating Italy, the Dutch and the Germans playing some great stuff while Sweden, the Bulgarians, the Romanians and the Nigerians provided some proper brilliant underdog stories. Argentina looking awesome until it turned out Diego had been off his tits the whole time. Then you had Bebeto and Romario for Brazil. There were some great games at that tournament, it's a shame the final was so shit. Best of all there was no England to fvck it up, just a stress-free tournament you could enjoy. I was an easily impressed 11 year old though.

Nalis Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 This thread Big up to Ian Wright for noting Northern Ireland's group in the post match commentary however I think England would have more points than our 19.

It was like the whole world was having a party that we weren’t invited to. A World Cup without England there just isn’t the same for me...
RumbleFox Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 I know some people might accuse me of "PC gone mad" but who on earth still says "pikey"? Or even "paddy"? I seem to have been transported to my school playground circa 1992. Either that or Jim Davidson has an FT account? X
