The media overreaction on Puel - we are still ruffling some feathers

Recommended Posts

In the last 20 years we've only had 4 foreign managers (Sven, Sousa, Ranieri, Puel) and we've had 12 British managers (O'Neil, Taylor, Bassett, Adams, Levein, Kelly, Allen, Megson, Holloway, Worthington, Pearson, Shakespeare).

We didn’t hire a British manager because there isn’t any good ones available. Pretty simple really. What is it with people thinking our club owes something to football? We don’t. It’s like because we unexpectedly won the league we now have to repay our debt to football for the rest of our lives.

Maybe we should have hired Giggs? I’m sure that would have made everyone happy.

Apparently we should have hired Karl Robinson. lol

Somehow winning the league has meant that every man and his dog actually think they're more informed about Leicester than any other run of the mill PL club, it's not true of course but it doesn't stop of all of the brain dead narratives coming out.

When has Dyche ever managed in a Champion's league semi-final, won a top flight or finished 8th in the league? Never.

This 100%... Dyche was even mentioned in the same breath as Pellegrini and Ancelotti on the bbc which made me laugh

There are things to criticise Puel on from a coaching and managerial stance, and by all means they should scrutinise him, but to go full old bob on Puel is just bizarre.

Absolutely bizarre that all of a sudden it's us that are ruining football with a foreign manager and it's sacrilege to not hire Karl ducking Robinson instead.

I could partially understand the outrage if we'd passed up on a wealth of talented young English managers but instead we're lambasted because we didn't go for Dyche who didn't fancy it or League One standard managers lol

I can't remember Watford getting so much stick for having about 6 successive foreign managers.

I don’t seem to remember United getting this backlash when they appointed Jose, or Chelsea When they got Conte in. And what’s Vaughan on about? I’m sure there were plenty of good English cricketers when he was the national skipper and on the selection board but he still chose a few South Africans to play for England

Typical attitude from the British press though ain't it?

Build em up - then knock em down!

We were everyone's favorite second team not long ago and the whole world fell in love with our fairy-tale.

Now we're getting the shitty end of the stick.

Oh the Ying and the Yang of it all ... :)

Love how they act all high and mighty and then suggest we actively go and poach another teams manager.

Probably then slag us off for that as well.

We killed football the day we sacked Ranieri apparently. There’s nothing we can do to make up for it.

We should have just done a competition where the winner gets to be manager.

They are just all still salty that the fairytale didn’t end in relegation. That was the perfect story.

Good job we’ve got owners looking after the clubs best interests really.

This has been bugging me for a while but can anyone explain the obsession with British? Why is a Scot, a Welshman, an Irishman of more relevance to us than a Frenchman or Italian? If David Moyes or Chris Coleman were appointed instead, would it make it much better?

In football, we are English and that is it. There is no British. In footballing terms, everyone outside of England is foreign. Having seven Scots is no different than four Spaniards and three from South America- they are all stopping an English player potentially playing.

Thankfully, most people do not care where somebody comes from. If Claude Puel fails, it will be because of his tactics, his man management, his set-up and ultimately his results. It won't be because he's French, doesn't know the league or any such bollocks.

Seriously, these blinkered pundits can **** off. The game exists outside this country and we're trying to do the best for our club. This is the worst part of punditry for me- judging a man on where he's from and not his record. If a useless duffer like Tim Sherwood was appointed they'd be delighted which says it all.

Pillocks, the lot of them.

Only at Leicester could we go from being the darlings of the football world, to become a laughing stock..in less than two seasons.

You couldn't make it up. We were in such an amazing position, loved by the media, by football at large..to really being disliked now by many, it would seem.

**** the media and anyone else who wants to slag us off. This is our club not theirs. They can go **** themselves. None of those who comment are relevant.
