Carl the Llama Posted 28 October 2017 Posted 28 October 2017 Obviously going to be one of the best assistant managers we've ever had.
Nigel Graham Pearson Posted 28 October 2017 Posted 28 October 2017 How could you not put your trust in those lads? Keep the faith.Â

brucey Posted 28 October 2017 Posted 28 October 2017 With the delay between the announcement of Puel and the announcement of Plancque, it feels to me that John Collins was Puel's first choice and he only went back to Plancque after Collins turned it down. I think keeping Appleton on was a requirement for all applicants anyway.
The Fox Covert Posted 29 October 2017 Posted 29 October 2017 I think Appleton might stay if that is what he wants and the players have confidence in him. Ranieri brought in Benetti to help him and it didn't seem to undermine Shakespeare. What chance of Shakey rocking up at OH Leuven in the near future?

A story in the Sun suggests he could join with Big Sam at Everton....somehow makes sense, but I hope not (as much as I want to see Shakespeare get a good future in Premier League) I've nearly used all my hate up for Everton....
RumbleFox Posted 29 October 2017 Posted 29 October 2017 So much "I reckon. As I see it. Straw man bullsh1t" going on on this thread. Why is everyone so keen to look for future problems and make up rifts that may not even exist?  As I see it, I reckon Appleton is very happy here and will stay as he has had a lot of movement so far in his career and probably wants a safe home for a wee bit and if you disagree you are obviously saying that you hate the new manager.  Rumble.  X

He has the confidence of the players and won the 2 games he was in charge. As Puel has worked with Plancque previously I can see Appleton getting sidelined. I don't see how 2 assistants can work, but what is certain, Appleton's influence/authority will be undermined. It cannot be good for the stability of the club and players - 2 assistants will have different views, styles of training. Appleton sees himself as a PL manager in the future - It seems likely to me he will consider his best option would be if he gets an offer to manage a Championship club. His previous record must make him attractive to a Championship club. If I was running the club then I would make sure Appleton happy - both to provide continuity and to ensure we are not high and dry if Puel and if helper don't work out.
Chester Dontlie Posted 29 October 2017 Posted 29 October 2017 It was nice to see Appleton chatting with Puel, I hope they'll keep up the good relation and Appleton stays... However I didn't see the hero of the hour when watching my stream. It was rather disappointing not to see his face even for a split second. Has anyone spotted Pascal today??

Could potentially be up in the stands mic'ed up like Walsh was?
Vardinio'sCat Posted 29 October 2017 Posted 29 October 2017  Apples looks fully part of it to me. I don't see having 2 assistant managers as a problem, hasn't it worked before somewhere?

They should dedicate one camera to focus solely on him and show him when there's a break in play. Â Yeah, I see no problem either with having two assistant managers. Hope Aplles stays.
