Southampton (A) 4-1 Post Match Thread

one.two.three.four...we want, we want, we want more!. what a fantastic performance particularly in the first half. it was a brave decision by Puel to leave out gray and Iborra but King and particularly Okazaki did brilliantly and both took their goals superbly well.and another great goal from Riyad while the defence and kasper did well. the whole team is playing tremendous at the moment and we have the momentum to keep it going and see where we end up!. we are playing really exciting football at the moment and it is so good to watch and admire. let's just crest this wave at the moment and see where it takes us and hopefully we will Tsunami up the league!.

Four consecutive wins. Two wins away from home in five days with seven goals scored. Achieved with different line ups and formations. Kingy ghosting into the box to score like it's 2008-2012 again. Footy that's such porn that the DVD will be on the top shelf in a brown paper bag (apparentley...I wouldn't know about such things). And please let there be a DVD this time. Getting ahead but going for more. And more. And more. Competition for places. A centre half who plays like Gazza on steroids in a five a-side. A keeper who is Shilton, Banks and his dad rolled into one. Everyone confident. Everyone smiling. And our Christmas gift to ourselves still to come, the second coming of Iniesta and Maradona's lovechild in the form of Silva, purposely kept back in a moment of inspired genius by Rudkin and his £29.99 Alpha Discounts Fax Machine.

I can only assume you never saw Shilton or Banks play.

Kasper isn't in the same league.

Very good performance last night.

What I find really encouraging is that despite our improvement we still have Silva and Mendy (Most likely next season - but I think under Puel will become the player that we thought we'd had signed) to slot into this team, with the possible addition of Ben Arfa in January too, the future's certainly looking bright.

Add the fact that due to our exceptional Sports Science team we generally finish very strongly (especially given the fact we've not had the extra European games this season). If we can get to the end of February in a relatively good position I can see us picking up more points at a higher run rate than the teams above us over the final few months.

To be fair as great as it was, if Kasper hadn't pulled off that worldy and they pull it back to 2-3 we would have had a very uncomfortable last 20. I think we got a tad cocky and took our foot off the gas. Nearly very dangerous.

But the first half was exceptional. We were so good and in control.

This is true but Forster also pulled out a worldie save from our counter and Lemina cleared one off the line from Okazaki. We missed some huge chances.

"I think Pue is a very good manager. Just the fans didn't like a manager who did poor interviews".

Ha.

"I hope they don't appoint him. Leicester would be stronger with him at the helm, I was hoping for someone like Pardew to relegate them."

"Of course Leicester would be interested in him - he led us to a top half finish and a cup final with what was a pretty poor squad.
He's a world class manager, it's a shame our idiot fans are unable to see this. Leicester's owners are clearly very smart."

Must be hard for him to see his own predictions fullfilled.

p.s if this doesnt make you long for another European tour I dont know what will! Crazy how a song made famous with us after an absolute twatting reminds me of good times.

It's a great story how this song has sort of become a staple sound of a Leicester victory when you realise the context of it:

100% this. Cruising at 3-0. Declared at that, but then let in a soft soft goal and looked very, very uncomfortable. If Austin had scored it would have been an extremely nervy finish and I can't guarantee we would have seen it out at just 3-2.

If we'd got a fourth before conceding then it would have killed them off and then we could have cruised.

If anyone wants to watch the whole match (again) it is, as always, available with a search for reddit football highlights.

I didn't notice the cheeky back heel from Okazaki before he scored the second and he could easily have poked the third in from Maguire's cross before King did.

I have always thought we could upgrade on Okazaki but this season he really has been outstanding. adding the goal scoring touch to his other incredible work.

Has Okazaki started   this season, even with his 1st goals, even Shinji supporters like myself, thought we should find

an upgrade for his position, his allround performces, his style, his improvement as left me at Least ,in Somewhat of  a quandary.

Imho, Puel will bench him for somegames, and carry on testing Various frontline selections, but I thought Shinji would be

the easiest to replace, but again like some of his fellow teammates, hes found that extra kick, and has become that annoying

nusiance of old, probably improved in his positioning, when moving forward into the box.Plus he is now finding the

2nd phase passes, cos he aint falling over so much..

I would of loved him on his 1st goal to have, got that 1st flick in, from Fuchs' s shot .

It might seem like just a passing statement, or a   by and by, but I really mean it....

I WANT him now to stay, and be even more   successfull with us.

It is strange, but I believe, more than any other team, we have a group of Individual players, that bring  something slightly different to their own and the  teams game.

It was this, that makes me believe, Ranieri couldnt really see or understand it.

Maguire / the obvious Vardy / Shinji  / Mahrez sublime short bursts and drifts/Ndidis continual , regular break up/interceptions  of oppos play , maybe Only 2nd to our old friend Kante.

Add Gray and Chilwell who are always pushing, with decent pace that area between

20-40meters  in Front of the oppo's box.It was previously ground and space We hardly roamed

into on a regular basis, its not fantastic, but we are  picking up, checking, stopping more ball there.

We have scored, or created, quite a few times where the move Started a few meters just outside our own box...   Puel/Blank/Appleton have found a new formular, that is fitting our

team, and squad quite smoothly...with new ideas there are always hiccups, sometimes massive burps even, but the potential can be now seen....

Exception...blind 1st page posters on match threads...:D

then we used to...

I think Puel would have subbed earlier to give the big boys more rest. But the Southampton goal momentarily delayed that.

From their forum...

Would be a poor appointment from Leicester for all the reasons he was deemed a failure here, namely that he cannot communicate with supporters.

Why do people think that his manner in interviews and 'communication with supporters' matters in the slightest?

Because they're a bunch of idiots who base their judgement on appearances and not what the bloke does. As if press conferences were anything else but PR crap or smiling at the crowd would give us a tactical edge.
