No chance of him going to a PL club on loan at this stage, none would want him.

True but I never said PL I said top flight. Not specific to any country.

Replacing Mahrez with Harvey Barnes.... lol

He obviously won't replace him. But if Mahrez does leave we'll need all the help we can get. It's probably more likely that since Barnsley went dogshit we need to think of other ways to help Harvey develop though.

Barnsley fans seem to think we may want to loan him to a team higher in the championship.

Yep - perhaps we are considering selling him?

He nearly made the bench today. I would not be surprised if he played against Fleetwood.

If he does I wonder where he'll play. He's been on the left of an attacking midfield three if I recall correctly. I'm not sure he's really a winger. It'll be exciting to see him play anyway.

And of course they would know what the Leicester manager is thinking.  There are direct quotes from Puel explaining why he has been recalled. Why are people still speculating as to why?

With silva and James playing, iborra coming back and Barnes as you say was being considered, the middle of the park is starting to look a bit ‘suffocating’ for poor Kingy... :-(

King has been a legend for LCFC but it's the right time to put him out to pasture!

He won't play in the FA Cup for us because it'll mean he'd be stuck in the reserves for the rest of the season. Can't play for more than 2 clubs a season.

We'll just put him back on loan to a more attacking Championship side.

Thanks for that insight...!  :)

I'll hold off judging him on that 60 minutes he had, as even our internationals were appalling. But at first glance I'd say he isn't a wide player, he isn't mobile enough. Probably central midfield is his ideal position.

He was very poor as we're nearly all of them. He reminds me of Albrighton in the sense he's not very quick or skillful. Albrighton obviously has an exceptional range of crossing and general ability and Barnes seems to positionally be strong with a knack for goal scoring especially from range. You can see why he's been an attacking midfielder but you're right, to make it as a wide player without pace or trickery is difficult at the highest level. He could operate in the three behind our striker though and interchange with the other two which is how Puel is trying to teach our attacking midfielders.

I hope he gets a few more opportunities in the near future.

Wouldn't claim it to be insight, just common sense.

What's the point in him sitting in our reserves when he could be playing at a good level week in, week out?

A young Andy King, maybe?

Barnes is a reasonable dribbler, he’s not blisteringly quick but his close control is good and he’s agile. Potentially a more threatening Albrighton in the making.
