Clever Fox Posted 21 January 2018 Posted 21 January 2018 First Option means exactly what it say's. We have to renounce our interest before anyone else can buy him. However the devil is in the detail.: It also depends on what written into the small print of the Contract. The First option to buy might only apply for a given length of time. The price may be agreed between the Clubs already ( which is usually the case ) There's Clauses covering Salary etc. There's clauses covering injury while on loan etc. There's even clauses including increased bids. That's where the the Grey area is. if there's a higher offer. Then we still have first option, But have to decide to either pay the extra or back out. But the choice is still ours to make.

It's very confusing Southampton had the first option on Toby Alderweireld, they wanted him, he went to Spurs.
wardyfox86 Posted 21 January 2018 Posted 21 January 2018 We have a fee agreed to buy. Basically means we can enter contract negotiations at any point and agree a permanent deal for the agreed price. I think the "first option" part is a strange part, unless we can force Leverkusen to reject rival bids, which I doubt. And we certainly can't force a player to join us should we wish to sign him. If he doesn't wish to come here, I'm sure any club is free to bid and he's free to discuss terms with anyone.
Bossman Blessed It Posted 21 January 2018 Posted 21 January 2018 He's a perfect fit for our growing playing style. Not once did he try to just leather it anywhere through lack of options - he actually looks for the pass, even if it means going back to Kasper. Having two ball playing centre backs is transforming us massively and it's wonderful to see. He also made some great challenges yesterday and showed an element of experience when Deeney and Ndidi were having a little qualm.
les-tah Posted 21 January 2018 Posted 21 January 2018 And yet there is still some people who would have Wes straight back In when fit
m4DD0gg Posted 21 January 2018 Posted 21 January 2018 Watch morgan walk straight back into the team when fit. 1 1

All I was told was that we have first option to buy him but there are lots of variables, as others have mentioned, which might scupper that. If he carries on as he has recently then one would presume he's happy and would want to stay. I'd say that, all things being equal, we're in the box seat to do something in the summer.
Wymsey Posted 24 January 2018 Posted 24 January 2018 Dragovic has shown he can be a valuable asset to the team - the club must really sign him, considering Morgan turned 34 the other day and Huth's career at the club appears quite finished.
Foxxed Posted 24 January 2018 Posted 24 January 2018 It's so hard to find players that aren't complete dogshit. Let's buy him. 1
mozartfox Posted 24 January 2018 Posted 24 January 2018 Relax. Rudders will offer Leverkusen 10 bob and Everton will sneak in and sign him.

Better to buy him now before the exchange rate gets worse............ For £19m, given what we were quoted for a 30 year old Jonny Evans that's a steal IMO. Always liked Dragovic, and thought it'd be a matter of time before he showed his class, still laugh at our fans who claimed he was bought as a backup option - we've been looking at him for about 3 years!

Callabinho Posted 25 January 2018 Posted 25 January 2018 He just gets on with it, which is the most impressive thing. I think he’s learnt the hard way after being dropped by BL... he’s always had the ability but I think he now realised he’s got to be consistent. He’s easily been the most impressive signing in recent years, and he doesn’t do anything out of the ordinary... he just gets the basics of the game right. 2

I think that there's a pronounced different between the performances of Wes Morgan and Andy King, though. It is also worth noting that Morgan has served as club captain for a number of years, while playing at a high level.

My point is that the fans who want morgan back in the team are probably fans that have bought a shirt with his name on, whether he is any good or not , or how he's served the club is another matter.
