Should the darts and other sports ban 'walk on girls'?

The decision could be due to fears from feminist groups etc believing that they're being portrayed as 'a way of increasing viewing figures for quite a boring sports game'.

There's plenty of baying women at darts matches, trust me, I've been to a couple. Some even shouted "get yer kit off" at Andy Fordham

His shirt is the equivalent of a single duvet cover.

they’re banning the walk on girls but not the cheerleaders apparently. who are literally there for the exact same reason, to make darts a bit sexier.

the girls cleary want to do it, shame that the high horse women mob have cost a group of women their jobs for no reason at all.

I saw a tweet which summed it up best; I'm not offended by walk-on girls, it's just that in 2018 they are utterly pathetic. I've literally never understood the difference it makes, they always walk two steps ahead and it's for about 15 seconds at a time. The practice is just weird.

The model saying her "rights" have been trampled over is hilarious, too. She's Obviously never heard of the term "redundant" in her life. Woe betide someone removes a job and as such makes someone unemployed as a result. She's getting some great PR out of it so I assume her tactic of milking this for all it's worth will work. Equally funny are the men replying to her tweets in some pathetic attempt to curry favour with a pretty lady.

It's massively outdated but most importantly both ITV and Sky agree with this, and the PDC have just ended the practice. The term "banned" is a great word to parade around so the perpetually "I'm offended people are offended" brigade have something to hold onto.

Dunno, but '8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown' have scantily dressed muscley, fit blokes bringing out the prize for the winner. I can't help looking at Rachel Riley's face when they appear.

I was going to raise this too! And nobody says anything about that.

At the end of the day, sex sells. It's tried and tested over history and it always will.  Whether it is guys in white vests in the diet coke ads, top male and female models selling perfume, marketing girls walking on the F1 grid, or at the darts, it is a valid career choice for a huge number of people.  Where does this all stop? Perhaps actors and actresses will all have to be mingers in the future.

Jesus wept! If there is a problem with a minority of workers being exploited, then deal with the problem, don't just ban the whole industry to appease some snowflake somewhere.

Pathetic or not, you don't think the women "employed and paid" for working at these events have a choice? You're naïve and mistaken. "Banned" may be a reactionary term but why have Sky and ITV taken this decision? Because they're shit-scared of being branded misogynists and exploiters of women.

Women aren't less intelligent than men, they have a choice, they know what it's all about, and THEY GET PAID. Freedom of choice is the value we should all hang on to.

Imagine the complaints from women if Ross Poldark was made to remain fully clothed.

More pathetic liberal bullshit....pathetic beyond words. That will be a load of models who miss out on potential work because some pasty faced vegan harry potter look-a-like lesbians have got the hump.

Do you think they have a lot of influence at the PDC?

Casual misogyny towards feminism in this thread aside, I agree with the general sentiment being expressed: if the women want to do this job and aren't being coerced, then it's no one's place to tell them they can't do it. If someone is willing to pay for them to do it and they're willing to take that money, it's no one else's business.

No chance of 90's post pub telly like Live TV's topless darts being rebooted then.

What a channel that was, topless darts, painted ladies, the sex show, private dancer.

Fantastic soft porn.

Has anyone asked the kids making shoes for Niké or the prostitutes or the waitresses at gentlemens clubs or the actresses and models looking for jobs?

Western society has decided that certain things are not acceptable.

Even some slaves wanted to remain slaves back in the day.

That's a ridiculous comment.

Western society still has waitresses and actresses and models because normal people find them acceptable.

They aren't slaves, they a normal people doing something they (presumably) think they can do well. Which is something a lot of people struggle with.

Take away some of these industries and choices I might add, and you just continue to narrow the opportunities for people.
